Speed dating?

Can you tell me about it? If you have done it, can you recommend events to go to or avoid? I am in London and planning on going with a good girlfriend. We are both late 30's if that's relevant.

Tried it, you have to talk to a lot of bores but I got quite a nice date out of it though things didn't go any further. If I was younger (they don't run them in my part of the country for over 40s) I might go on one again.
