Online dating question?

Iv recently signed up to a dating site and been chatting to different guys and some have a few pics and some have just one anyway a guy with just one pic has asked to meet next week so I have agreed and we exchanged numbers.
We have been chatting a couple of days over text and he set some pics to my phone and hes nothing like his profile pic, in many ways. Im not attracted to him at all!!
He commented on my pics saying how lucky he was to be meeting me as Im a very attractive lady and I thanked him but then he said what do you think of my pics. I lied and said they were nice. Please dont think Im shallow because Im far from it, I dont judge. I do feel there has got to be physical attraction there though.
What do I do now? My free time is very very limited and dont want to be meeting guys out of pitty.

And you think he's telling the truth when he says you're attractive? ... :) Meet him anyway. You never know, you might make a friend & find you have a lot in common. Dating is very pressurised and miserable if its sole purpose is to find 'the one'.

CoEmLibs34 · 08/04/2012 11:24

Haha fair point!
Hmm I guess! I see your point but surely you are kind of looking for the one.
Physical attraction is very important!

A few text messages and pictures aren't much to go on. Some people are better-looking in the flesh than on camera and are attractive in other ways besides. Some really great-looking people are boring as all hell. If a man has to be 'perfect' before you'll even meet him for a drink, I just think you're closing down your options.

CoEmLibs34 · 08/04/2012 11:42

I agree on the some good looking people can be boring.
Im not looking for perfect just saying that physical attraction is important but yes its alot more that makes a person to be attracted to them.

Some people dont always look like their photos in real life anyway. There are plenty of horrendous photos of me that certainly dont look anything like the usual me.

izzyizin · 08/04/2012 14:45

You mean you hope they don't look anything like the usual you, squeaky [bugrin]

ameliagrey · 08/04/2012 15:10

Hm tricky! You agreed to meet before you had seen more pics- a lesson maybe in there?

Whether youmeet this guy depends i think on how much rapport you feel already- if it's just the looks that re an issue then maybe go and met him? If you feel that you don't have much in common really at all from emails and chats, then make your excuses and don't meet.

have to say though that it's about chemistry- so unless he is awful looking or something about him is a complete no-no, then what have you to lose? Just an hour of your day for a coffee.

empathyismyname · 08/04/2012 20:06

In my experience regardless of what they look like in their pic it will be the RL chemistry (or not) that will dictate whether you choose to take it to the second meeting or further. About 85% of the guys I met were better looking in RL that their picture.

I once met someone who looked pretty ok in his pics. Then I met him and he was a right minger! Twice the size with crooked teeth and a crooked smile. Really sleazy looking. Poor bloke.
