just tried the number - it's not an answering machine, it's a recorded message telling you to hold while they put you on to one of their people.

how odd, they say the helpline is 24 hours on the website.

could you try one of these then?:

PARENTLINE PLUS (For Families and Stepfamilies) 0808 800 2222

RELATE (Relationship Counselling) 0845 1304010

SAMARITANS 08457 909090 or 08457 909192

GINGERBREAD (For Single Parents) 0800 018 4318

REFUGE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HELPLINE 0870 599 5443

WOMENS AID 08457 023468

NSPCC 0808 800 5000 or 0800 056 0566

ScummyMummy · 06/02/2006 10:44

You can go to a Refuge, if you want. There're no "bad enough" measures and your experiences over the longer term are key as well as the more recent episodes of abuse. Hope things improve and sorry you're having a tough time.
