Website is a bit vague - how much does it cost to see a relate counsellor for some sessions?

I'm pretty sure it's just a donation opposed to a set fee as its a charity. I'm not 100% tho.

AnHonestHCA · 03/04/2012 00:27

they do have a minimum donation though - they just don't tell you what it is till you try to donate below it, it's quite pricey. It's sort of negotiated the first time you go for an assesment.

AnHonestHCA · 03/04/2012 00:28

They were aware that we were on milk tokens when we went BTW, and the low they would not go bellow was still quite expensive IMO (we could only afford to go twice)

yellowflowers · 03/04/2012 00:31

Would anyone mind telling me what that is. £20 a session I think we could do. Double that I don't think we could, not least because debt and how we deal with it is our main problem

45 per session but if you can't afford it then the min donation was I think 25 but that's based on a low salary . it's expensive. we've been going for about 4 months now !

yellowflowers · 03/04/2012 00:36

Would anyone mind telling me what that amount is though please. We could do £20 a session. Double that would be too much, especially as it's our reaction to our debts that is the main problem.

Thanks fakeblondie. Is that weekly? Are the sessions helpful?

it depends on your income.

When i called them in desperation recently they wanted £75 an hour.

Sometimes its cheaper to get independant couples counselling

Fakeblondie · 06/04/2012 12:33

We go once a fortnight as cant fit it in every week. And they dont charge if you need to cancel which being very busy we do a lot. yes its very helpful tbh.x

Niffler235 · 06/04/2012 13:03

It does vary by area - where I am it's £55 and they kind of means test so we couldn't get a reduction though this is something they do offer. Add that to the £25 admin fee and it was £80 for the first session.

It is cheaper elsewhere - I am based in south east.

You are not in Scotland by any chance? Ours is free. Not Relate but Couples Counselling.

Cremeeggsandkitkatsoldiers · 06/04/2012 22:02

think the min here is more like £35, are you religious? marriage care are good (but christian)

AuntieMaggie · 06/04/2012 22:08

It depends on where you live and income - were too expensive for us.

Talk to your gp they might be able to recommend somewhere cheaper. we used a christian organisation but we aren't religious but this didnt matter. might be worth looking for charity orgs in your area.
