I help some help/advice/ emotional support/ glass of wine. DH and I do not get on. Lots of different reasons but my main concern is my 2 DSs (4 & 1). What rights do i have if we were to formally separte/ divorce? We don't have any savings, lots of debts and I work full time although all my salary goes on childcare.
I don't know where to start to move forward and grateful of any help.

Go to entitledto.co.uk as this will show you how much you will get from tax credits, inc child care rebate, if you are alone. Are the debts in joint names? It might be worth a trip to Citizens Advice to see what you can do about them.

Agree with both those suggestions. CAB are good on legal matters and regular solicitors will sometimes offer a free half-hour and run you through the basics. From someone that has been through the process, once you have the information and assuming you go ahead with a divorce, see if you and DH can remain cordial long enough to agree on arrangements for looking after the children and dealing with the finances etc. The more you can do this yourselves, the lower the costs.
