WhatKaty I have just finished reading In Sheep's Clothing by Dr George Simon.

The book addresses "covert aggressive" behaviour, how to spot it and how to deal with it. The reason I mention the book in response to your OP is that the writer thinks that sometimes passive aggression (eg silent treatment, deliberately forgetting things) can be confused with active aggression that is veiled in such a way as to make it difficult for the victim to realise they are being attacked. In any event, it's opened my eyes to certain behaviour in my life and made me realise that certain people I'd have termed passive aggressive - and thus giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were somehow justified or on the defensive about something I'd done - is in actual fact, just aggression, pure and simple.
