How to deal with passive/aggressive behaviour?

Apart from telling him to grow up and stop being a twat over this? (hasn't worked!)

Basically, we're having a bit of a rough few days over not seeing eye to eye over a major financial decision and he's currently mostly ignoring me and being arsey in a passive aggressive manner.

So, do I just wait and let him stew or try to break through?

Well, you know your DH better than I do, but I am of the opinion that trying to 'break through' as you put it just validates his childish behaviour.

Just disengage, the more airtime you give it, the more he will do it.

I agree, the point of passive aggressive behavouir is to punish the other person by getting them to run around, trying to make everything better.

If he's being really grumpy/sulky/moody, I think the best thing to do is go out. Affect a bright and sunny demeanour when you are home, and refuse to engage with any childish sulking, If someone's going to behave like a toddler, treat them as such.

It could be that your partner needs some time alone to think things through, and may respond positively to some down time. But its pointless to try to jolly someone along if they want to strop.

Spent the day out - got my hair cut too.

As for time to think things through - no, he's just being an arse this time!

So yes, business as usual for me and the kids and no trying to chivvy him along.
