First step to living life again!

I have had an issue with my front door now for 4 yrs.
My ex would come and kick it, tried to burn the edges to get glass out once I guess.
Arson team sealed the letter box and ex bent it try to get access to inside and then the arson team double sealed it.
The scew driver marks were like date lines cave men would do on cave walls....each screwdriver ridge mark was a date I clearly remeber espcially the last date 12 months ago when ex tried to force door open whilst ds and I slept.

Don't get me wrong that battered, old, strong, door was a life saver....a veil between life and death as God only knows if ex got through the door on last occassion with screwdriver in hand.

Very very important day today as the new one fitted and excuse the phrase

'like a new door openning'

but is in a literal and many other ways....a start to getting mine and ds life back. I still have a long way to go as need to repaint etc so I can sell up and move to ensure we are safe from him.

But this a big start...thank you Mums :)

glad for you...here's to a happy and safe future for you! Brew

something2say · 27/02/2012 20:51

Well done you, brilliant news.
Where did the door come from?

Onesunnymorningin2012 · 27/02/2012 21:42

That sounds great sea, another Brew from me and a Bear for your DS.

seaofyou · 27/02/2012 22:30

it's a small step and I feel better without the chains and locks on the door...most importantly no letterbox (hehe no more junk mail as they wont think to look for box). I know ex can't threaten with petrol/or something else through letterbox again.
Something2say the company is a local window/door PVC company, quite well known in my area. Not cheap but gave some discount.
The fitter asked why was there so many cracks on the front door (thinking it was really old as didn't realise it was 12yrs old). He thought it was really bad when I explaned, anyway later in day I realised the alarm on door was not reconnected...nearly had a panic attack! The fitter came back really fast to reconnect it as he was worried because of what I told him....there are nice men out there after all who are not nasty but sometimes care about other people Shock Smile

love the teddy for dsonesunny Never seen one of them before...thank you :)

Your story of what you've been through and your new start brought tears to my eyes. I am so glad you had the door to keep you safe. And I am really glad to hear that you have a new one and can celebrate. I wish you all the happiness you deserve.

seaofyou · 28/02/2012 08:29

ahhh thank you Worldwithwings so sweet :)

Knowing now there is no way of getting anything through the front door I feel safe and I know my sleep will improve.
I wish I had done it 6 months ago...but I needed to wait 12 months of attack free time before paying out for a new door.
I can now take the second step and put house up for sale:)
