Not used it myself, but DB and SIL did, and found it very, very helpful. They'd been together for years and started taking each other for granted, he met someone who showed an interest, he didn't do anything but the temptation scared him. A few years on from Relate they're happier than ever and have had another child.

Tried them myself years ago, didn't help with anything but i feel that it's something you both have to be commited to, my ex only went with me once, i continued on my own for a while and i guess that's why he is now my ex..:)

I went once, abosutely bewildered at thenDH strange behaviour they spotted pretty quickly he was emotionally available (I would have preferred it if they had said, listen love he is having an affair), and explained really accurately how emotionally unavailable men arrange their lives to avoid intimacy. Like, city banking, oil rigs, shift work etc etc. - all so they don't have to be with you for extended periods of time. That was an eye opener.

Tried it for a couple of sessions and found it helpful. I think my DH found it an eye opener.

If one (or both) of you is hoping or expecting to go along and for the counsellor to tell you you're great and doing everything right and your DP is the one that needs to change, then you're in for a shock.
