I trust that you know yourself well enough to be fully aware of what you are doing. I would listen to your friend, tell her that you appreciate what she is saying and that you will take her advice on board, and then carry on doing what you are doing.

You are a grown woman and have shown great strength before. I just hope this man deserves your friendship! (and I want a photo asap!)

Have fun Amanda, he sounds lovely! Don't tell your friend too much, not until you're serious! Could well be that she was planning lots of single mum activities, long telephone calls moaning about men, etc. Perhaps she is very lonely and thought that this could bring you two closer together? So don't be too hard on her, pretend that you are taking her advice whilst not doing, ifswim!
