Help! Found Valentines Card(s) in H's bag!

Please tell me I'm being irrational and there's a simple explanation for this.

H is out at the pub with his dad. I've just been tidying up the livingroom and found H's work notebook lying around. I knew he'd need it for work tomorrow so I put it into his work bag, and when I did that I found three brand new Valentines Day cards (not yet written on). One was "to my wife" (obviously for me) - but there were two more! One was pretty generic, it was decorated with random Valentines-related words ("always", "be mine", "happiness", "kisses", etc) and the other was decorated with an image of love heart sweets and has the words "BE MINE" in large font.

What should I make of this? It looks like they were all purchased at the same time, as they're all from Sainsburys.

My first thought was WTF?! Then I tried to think of a reasonable explanation. We have two very young children. Perhaps the other cards are going to be from them to me? But if that is the case - isn't "BE MINE" a little inappropriate for a young baby?

If they were for 'other women', would he really be stupid enough to leave them in his bag in the livingroom? We have a toddler who could easily get into it.

What would you think if you saw these in your husband's bag? Would you confront or wait until Valentines Day?

Two days ago (yes early, I know) I received a Valentines present from two young giggling relatives a secret admirer.

Every year I receive a card from my mum a secret admirer.

Every year you will now receive cards from the children your many secret admirers Smile

JasperJohns · 14/02/2012 10:56

Ha ha! Hooray for all the lovely husbands. They don't get much publicity on here in amongst all the awful ones.

sillymillyb · 14/02/2012 10:57

Ah good! I was thinking of you this morning!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 14/02/2012 10:59

Grin I feel all happy now!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 14/02/2012 11:03

I am also Grin at the thought that 'BE MINE' is quite an appropriately toddlerish sentiment. Perhaps more commonly applied to toys or foodstuffs than mothers, though.

Wormshuffler · 14/02/2012 11:22

Ah excellent. I feel bad now for telling you to photograph them!

Lueji · 14/02/2012 14:02

I just wonder why the supposedly hysterical pps who cry affair without reason missed this thread.

Will go now...

This is such a sweet ending. I bet it turns out to be one of your best V Days ever. Give him an extra big kiss.

Anniegetyourgun · 14/02/2012 18:18

I got a Valentine's card once. (Yes, the one and only occasion.) I was about 16. It was clearly chosen for me because I was well into horse pictures in those days and this was a beauty, wild horses galloping through moonlit water with a red velvet border sort of thing. Looked posh with a capital P. Unfortunately they hadn't checked so carefully inside. "Hey Dad," I said, "this card says 'to the man I love'!" "Oops, sorry", he said.

solidgoldbrass · 14/02/2012 19:01

I'm glad it's all turned out well but do be a little careful if you have a tendency towards irrational frantic jealousy. It's a truly repulsive behavioural trait and one that anyone developing it should try hard to overcome.

springydaffs · 15/02/2012 00:28

rightio SGB, I'll bear that in mind.

OP, fab ending Smile
