Time for a positive thread about DHs I think.

Today my DH has quietly taken the hoover upstairs and is working his way through the house. We had to have our beautiful labrador put to sleep this week and he knows how upsetting I'm finding seeing her stray blonde hairs everywhere (she seemed to moult all year round).

OP posts:
HSMM · 28/01/2012 12:19

My DH has supported me through 6 yrs of open university study and not complained once.

overmydeadbody · 28/01/2012 12:20

Where do I start?

Kayano · 28/01/2012 12:20

My DH gave me a back rub and cooked me breakfast this morning just because. He knows I haven't been sleeping well and I'm 37 weeks pregnant.

He has now gone to help my friend Move house with my dad and we are all going out later.

I'm also a soft shite loving how affectionate he is ATM ESP when he kissed my forehead or tummy BlushGrin

perplexedpirate · 28/01/2012 12:22

My DH has just gone to pick up my phone I left at a friends last night and picked up breakfast on the way back.

overmydeadbody · 28/01/2012 12:23

He left on a snowboarding trip at 3am this morning and left me a lovely note to find in the morning.

Sorry about your labrador Holly.

Kayano · 28/01/2012 12:23

Oh! And he also asked me about working and extra 10 hours a week so when I go back to work after baby I won't have to work as long or hard and be with the baby Grin

Which I thought was lovely but I am so lucky and happy ATM I would want to be with him and baby and I want to be fair to him too so have said its his decision but I wouldn't want him to work so much he can't enjoy being a family too

Squitten · 28/01/2012 12:23

My DH got up at 6am with the toddler so I could sleep in with baby and has spent the AM scrubbing down the front drive. He will also be looking after kids this PM so I can study

overmydeadbody · 28/01/2012 12:24

He always makes me a cup of tea in the morning. He always hugs up to me all night to keep me warm, even though he overheats Grin

Gay40 · 28/01/2012 12:25

DP made all the beds, got everything ready and set up the dvd for DD's sleepover without a single moan (she hates that job) because I just couldn't be arsed and said so.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 28/01/2012 12:37

Brought me up toast and supplying me with water, 34 weeks pg and I have been ill since Tuesday and I am still in bed as I feel so rough and this is the first time I have been able to rest. He is also looking after DD. :)

I am very grateful for him as he is so caring and cuts me slack when I need it without batting an eyelid.

flapperghasted · 28/01/2012 12:38

DH currently in the kitchen, launching a spring clean for me while I finish off my tax return (not mumsnetting as I appear to be). Then he said he'd help me sort out the ironing pile, so it takes up less room (I have Mount Kilimanjaroo made of kids clothes and bedding). I'm now off to actually do the tax return so I can go shopping and do my ironing and stop being lazy biatch :)

Sposh · 28/01/2012 12:39

He's not actually up yet! But he's looked after me for the last two days when I've been poorly so I'll let him off Wink

knackeredmother · 28/01/2012 12:43

Supported me for 4 years when I gave up a good job to retrain as a doctor.
Sets his alarm, even on his days off, to wake me for work, bring me a cup of tea in bed and de ice my car.
Regularly used to drive to my work, sometimes twice a day and in the middle of the night, so I could breastfeed my dc when working ridiculously long hours.
Does ALL the DIY and is the most practical man I know.
Has changed more nappies than me .
Does all the washing and ironing. I am a crap ironer.

GodisaDj · 28/01/2012 12:50

Just had a breville cheese toastie made for me and DP is watching our 6 month old whilst I go and have some beauty treatment at my favourite place with the voucher he brought me for Xmas desperately needed as my eyebrows currently look like one caterpillar

Sorry to hear about you dog holly, we had a lab and he was put to sleep at 16 years old, that was 8 years ago and my family still talk about him now; he was a big part of our childhood. Hope u are ok Smile

Snowbeetle · 28/01/2012 12:55

DH currently supporting me through uni degree - involves working 5 days of hours in 4 days so he can have dc for the 5th, works hard, pulls his weight round the house and looks after ds most weekend so I can study. No complaints to do this and very loving too and makes me laugh. Feel sooooooo lucky. In return I give him as much love as possible.

HandMini · 28/01/2012 12:57

What a nice thread. I can't think of anything right now as DP is off on a ski holiday, so it seems like aaaages since he did anything at all, but I like hearing all these heartwarming tales of lovely partners. Oh, he recently came home from work one morning having worked a full night shift with flowers, croissants, fruit etc, just because.

HappyHippyChick · 28/01/2012 12:59

My dh got up this morning to drive me and the baby to a midwife appt.

He is now out going to the Market, the butchers, the farm shop and the supermarket to get all the weekly shop. When he gets back he is going to cook some meals for the week so I don't have to worry while I get used to having 4 dcs!

tentative123 · 28/01/2012 13:13

Mine is working through the pre baby nesting list while i have a nap in bed. He gets all the crappy jobs i cant do now :-)

Onesunnymorningin2012 · 28/01/2012 13:14

I'm sorry for your loss Holly. I still think about our lovely pooch who was PTS when I was 15, many years ago. xx

My DH has fed (and medicated) the cat, and is making me another cuppa. He also shops and cooks (he's not working and I am).

He always tells me I'm beautiful and makes me laugh.

CharminglyOdd · 28/01/2012 13:26

DP cooked and cleaned whilst I was revising. We went away recently and I needed him to print off a paper that I hadn't had time to read (I had no idea where on his PC it was). Picked up my folder to add more papers and found the original paper in there - he'd anticipated I wouldn't have had time to read it, printed it off and packed it for me :)

He makes me hot water bottles, without me asking, whenever I need them (usually when I've already gone to bed and am shivering) even if he's dead tired and also wants to sleep.

Kayano · 28/01/2012 13:33

I just now got this text:

I've got a DVD we can watch tonight with the cats.

Aww lots of 'us time' snuggles with a cat on my knee and a cat on his knee. I love how he worded it Like our cats are so advanced the watch DVDs lol

Bluestocking · 28/01/2012 13:34

I was completely floored by a migraine this week and had to take a day off work. He came home at lunchtime to make sure I was OK, refilled my hot water bottle and brought me the nice strong cup of tea I'd been thinking about but not feeling strong enough to get out of bed and make for myself. Then he hotfooted it back to work!

smellsofreindeersick · 28/01/2012 13:42

DH took DD food shopping this morning so I could go for a swim and has been holding my foot for about an hour because I asked him to and because it's cold. That's love that is.

mouldyironingboard · 28/01/2012 13:52

My wonderful DH has been my rock through years of illness/disability in a fantastic way. He takes me to my various medical appointments, as I can no longer drive, and he cheerfully does the shopping/errands/housework that I can't manage while also holding down a demanding full-time job.

Every single day I count my blessings to be married to such an amazing man who is the love of my life.

mouldyironingboard · 28/01/2012 13:55

Hollyfoot, I forgot to say that I'm sorry to hear about your labrador.
