Yes. Both did when I cheated (clean) and he will tomorrow after he cheated. It is essential.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 11/01/2012 12:48

I won't have one this time, as he stopped sleeping with me when he met her, and we have used condoms the handful of times since he ended it. Obviously if his comes back With something I will do.

lettersandcommas · 11/01/2012 12:51

I would.
Go to a specialised clinic - they have seen it all and will be very good about that - at least from what I've seen, I've worked with a lot.

Kayano · 11/01/2012 12:57

My DH got an std check at 24 while it was still free because you could win something

he is such a loser

But if he ever cheated I would want tested. Nasty Sad

KirstyWirsty · 11/01/2012 13:39

Trying to get through for an appointment my PRCK was horrified(!!) when I said that I'd have to go and get it done because of his affair

I have one done every time I start up with a new partner & we've been together more than 3-6 months (I'm single, not yet married).

You can get them for free on the NHS, and at many clinics you don't even have to give your real name. If you're in London or nearby, I recommend 56 Dean Street, they're lovely in there.

Thingumy · 11/01/2012 13:56

We both had std tests not through affairs but just because we had unprotected sex with previous partners (I was on the pill).

It's a no brainer if you have been with someone who has had unprotected sex imo.

KirstyWirsty · 11/01/2012 13:57

In Glasgow area it is the Sandyford Clinic

Only been with 1 other partner, he cheated so I tested. I just went to my gp, can you not go there?

pinkandstripey · 11/01/2012 15:09

I went to walk in centre at hospital - just go for opening time and wait.

They offered a variety of services (lol), from giving you swabs so you could swab yourself for some STDs, i got full works - including an aids test (sure that was a blood test), and they did my overdue smear 'while they were up there' (i can laugh about it now!! :o)

TheTruthNothingButTheTruth · 11/01/2012 15:23

Always get it done with a new guy, and if you suspect your partner to be playing away then get yourself tested just to be sure.

lettersandcommas · 11/01/2012 15:26

Aids is finger. very quick.

issey6cats · 11/01/2012 16:04

yes when i found out my exH had been sleeping with OW aswell as me was very simple went to the local womens health centre, explained why i was there they did all the tests and i got the results a few days later simples

Doha · 11/01/2012 16:07

kirsty can you get an appointment with your GP or practice nurse--they can do it for you...

AnyFucker · 11/01/2012 16:08

your cheating partner needs to get tested too

especially that one where they stick a swab roughly up the urethra Wink

KirstyWirsty · 11/01/2012 18:39

No GP told me to go to the Sandyford clinic. I'll go tomorrow after seeing the solicitor .. fun fun day ahead :-$

Sorry OP you obv have a crap GP. I am a PN and do STI checks almost daily for patients who can't wait for a Sandyford appointment and can't attend the drop in centre.
We have patients tested and treated before their appointment date at Sandford. It is a pretty rubbish service at present.

lazarusb · 11/01/2012 20:03

OP- do you think details of your appointment on here might out you? Just checking Wink
I had one 3 years after splitting with my first boyfriend when I found out he'd got someone pg while he was with me. Biggest shock of my life Sad However, all was clear. Hope you are too. Take care.

sillymillyb · 11/01/2012 20:07

I got tested and he had given me chlamydia. I went to my local gum clinic at the hospital and tbh it was grim, full of local kids. The nurses were fab though, and my doctors will only test for chlamydia not any of the other nasties so it was worth it just to make sure I had a thorough check up. I hope your clear and it goes ok :)

lazarusb · 11/01/2012 20:30

OP - I think my post might have sounded a bit Hmm. I'm not implying that I, or anyone else, will be sitting outside the clinic that day trying to guess who you are...sorry Blush

KirstyWirsty · 11/01/2012 20:37

No problem Lazarusb ... I just took it you were concerned about my identity being secure :-)

OP posts:
lazarusb · 12/01/2012 12:49

Grin Thank you! That was the way I meant it, but it looked a bit odd written down!

M0naLisa · 13/01/2012 20:12

I went to my GP after i cheated on an ex partner.
BUT i was also unsure what my then boyfriend had been up to when he was having his lads nights out with his mate driving round the red light district of Bradford...

It turned out i had Clamydia but Dr said id had it for some time by the looks of the results Confused as i had another bacteria infection that breeds from it - again Confused

All it was was swabs, and results were ready in about 4-5 days
