Bleeding/sex

I'll try and spare the details but a bit of blood on tip of condom after sex this morning. I'm not due to start my period until next week and no other signs of it today either other than this.

Anyone else experienced blood during/after sex?

Quite often yeah. I am tight [smug] so sometimes it bleeds, especially if it's a bit rough or when wearing condoms.

Nothing to worry about.

BecauseImperfect · 01/01/2012 23:18

Yes not specifically linked to sex. It's hormonal around due on time or ov. Which I spot for anyway. I'm sterilised as I've done my family all c sections. But still have a cycle.

It could be a hormonal one off. It could be an infection. If it happens again go to the dr to rule this all out. They will probably give you a smear too. Don't ignore it.

BecauseImperfect · 01/01/2012 23:20

Please don't listen to people who say don't worry. Yes it's probably true but bleeding after sex can be a sign of cervical cancer or infection. Hence why the nurse asks you. Never ignore it. Always get checked just to be safe.

MardyGra · 01/01/2012 23:20

well we err - tried out a new position this morning for the first time and although it didn't hurt during, I got a few funny pains 'inside' afterwards. Wonder if it's connected.

Who knows? Could be a one off. Cervix could be sensitive due to period due soon. But I'd keep an eye on it. It's something us women should be on the look out for to stay healthy!

Bleeding and pains after sex can happen but if it's new or unusual you should always see the gp. Anyone who says otherwise is foolish.

HaveToWearHeels · 01/01/2012 23:25

Get it checked out please. I had this and it turned out that it was nothing but it could be something. Mine was the softer cells that were inside the cervix were creeping out and getting roughed up during sex. It was hormona and after coming off the pill for a couple of months it stopped. My GP did warn me though that it could be pre cancerous cells.

yellowraincoat · 01/01/2012 23:26

Agree that if you're having pains as well, you should get it checked out. I never had any pain with it.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 01/01/2012 23:27

if a bit of spotting imbetween periods is not usual for you, it would be best to get it checked out with the doc

MardyGra · 01/01/2012 23:27

Well not meaning to drip feed but my boobs have been really painful for the past two weeks or so. They usually are before a period but not usually for 3 weeks. Could my hormones be going a little haywire?

I'm not on the pill.

LeBOF · 01/01/2012 23:28

It could be a cervical erosion- certainly worth checking out to be on the safe side.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 01/01/2012 23:28

are you pg ?

sillymillyb · 01/01/2012 23:28

Another one here saying get checked out - I thought my bleeding was just cervical erosion from too long on the pill, but it turned out to be early stages cancer. I honestly didn't suspect it would ever be serious but I was so lucky I mentioned it to the doctor and it got sorted out so quickly.

BecauseImperfect · 01/01/2012 23:30

It could be hormones. I'm still young ish. So still have very fertile ov cycles ironically. With the odd squiffy one thrown in.

Any unusual spotting especially after sex should be reported to the gp. I did this in aug, smear all clear. Turns out I was having super fertile cycles and everything was über sensitive around ov.

SquashedSquirrel · 01/01/2012 23:30

It could be connected however, I would always check things like that out. For example it used to happen to me ie pain and blood on condom and was one of the issues connected with having fibroids. Personally, I just wouldn't relax until I'd been checked but everyone is different.

sickandtiredofitallagain · 02/01/2012 08:06

I had this on and off for about 5 months. Summoned up the courage go to my GP referred to a gynae - I was terrified it had really begun to affect my sex life. Anyway turned out to be a cervical polyp which they removed immediately. Any bleeding after sex should be checked out, but please don't worry yourself grey and wait as long as I did

WhereMyMilk · 02/01/2012 08:10

I had this, and as above when finally plucked up courage to get checked out and have a smear, had CIN3 cells, so only a short hop to quite nasty cancer for me.
Please get checked out.

ameliagrey · 02/01/2012 09:44

All sensible replies here but you might get more of the same on the general health forum.
But it's not normal so you need to get checked.

blackcatsdancing · 02/01/2012 09:48

warning sign for cervical problems, please don't ignore. You need to see GP. May well be nothing but could be early sign of cervical abnormalities which are easy to treat when caught early on!

lazarusinNazareth · 02/01/2012 17:15

Again - any chance you could be pregnant?
