Hi, am new on here and this is my 1st post so please be gentle. Have been separated from my dh for 1 year (he was playing away got caught and got kicked out!) - 1 am 41 with 2 boys 5 and 2.5. This last year has not been easy and cannot believe the emotional rollercoaster I have been on and still am on. Anyway am rambling, sorry just wondered how you have met future partners - only get to go out once a month and all my friends are married. Not looking to settle down or anything like that but get very loney and would just love some adult company of an evening. Thanks for listening - would post a smily face here but don't know how to. Happy New Year!

Welcomne to mumsnet. Been on here for years, laughed cried and got cross at it but love it! What about college courses, that way you'd meet someone doing something you both like? On the right of the add a message box is a list of smileys etc and how to do them. see? Welcome again.

welcome topmum, i split from x when ds2 was 2 weeks old. took a while to get going again really but i started going to friends houses for the evening and taking the kids with me to play with their kids. often used to stay over on sofas or floors, kids shared beds so was an adventure for them aswell as company for me. i met dp through a friend who set us up.

all smileys etc are in the big yellow box next to where you type your message, is easy peasy. is just : ) (without the space in the middle).

look forward to chatting, i am often on here in an evening while dp is playing with his techie stuff, and usually through the day at some point when the kids get too much

What about joining a mumsnet meet-up (or starting one if there isn't one in your area). Where are you?

NomDePlume · 01/01/2006 18:33

Hi topmum , welcome to MN.

Why not look in the 'meet-ups' section of mumsnet and look for member meetups in your area ? I've been to a few and they're always good fun, it's nice to get together with new people once in a while. It prob won't find you a partner, but it'll improve your general social life .

BTW, people meet their partners in all sorts of places, not just in bars. Who knows where & when your Prince Charming will turn up.
