my mum fell pregnant with both my sister and i whilst using the coil, hence i've avoided them! good luck.

Yes my Sil fell pregnant whilst using the copper coil and then had coil removed when she was 6 weeks preg and was told that she may well miscarry soon after but she didnt and now the baby has just started school Grin mind you it's was child number four so my brother and Sil were not impressed at the time!

susiedaisy · 07/11/2011 14:18

Coils do fall out if you have heavy periods particularly the copper ones, and they also move and embed themselves into the wall of the womb and then don't work properly, and often the women are completely unaware of this until they either fall preg or have pain on one side of their lower abdo, happens alot more than we realise

My copper coil became imbedded high up in my uterus. I was quite ill and had bleeding but felt as though I was pregnant. U/S scan showed no pregnancy and several medics reassured me I was not pregnant. I had it removed under a general anaesthetic where I arrested on the table as the procedure caused an unknown ectopic to rupture spectacularly. I woke up in ITU a few days later. Please get yourself checked.

This is a v scary thread!

Hope you're ok op.

Hope you're ok op. You could be just worrying and making yourself sick. I hope it works out the way you want.

Imagine if you could have a 100% secure and reversible type of contraception enabling an active sex life with no worries. It would be pretty cool. I'm always worried about pregnancy Sad.

I did using mirena. Miscarried a few days after it was removed. I did a test because my boobs were killing me (as they do when just pregnant) to reassure myself that I wasn't pregnant and a big fat blue line appeared.

Hope you're ok. You need to do a test and if you are get to GP asap as there is an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy with a coil fitted.
