How much noise during sex?

in the midst of heart-break after a horrible break-up with XH. Contemplating having sex with someone (probably not a great idea but feel strongly that I don't want cheating, lying XH to be the last person I had sex with) but feel a bit terrified as have not had sex with anyone new in 11 years. XH was always silent during sex - is that normal? Can anyone give me a few basic reminders?

Everyone's different:
Some like to scream, some grunt, some merely sigh...

have some background music on... it will help to ease the mood and relax you a bit..

there are probably a few songs to avoid though...

Depends how good the sex is.....

Some men are, some aren't. Usually if they are silent, they will have some other signs (took me a while to work out DP's though!)

Most of the many men in my sordid past were fairly silent. Me, I'm noisy!!

But this is a totally unsuitable subject for a not-Friday night!

It really does differ from guy to guy, some guys are dead quiet (I always find that odd) others are really noisy.

I know one guy who always claimed to be very quite, but he then met a girl who was more noisy and he felt more comfortable making noises (and having the two of them stay over in the early days of their relationship, was definitely cause to invest in ear plugs)

Mine used to grunt a fair bit and say the odd word, now it's silent :-(

I can't say I'm that experience, but from what I do know is that some are mute, others noisy.

Like a pp said, have some music on. It will help diffuse the situation either way.
