when do you know there is no future and when you should stop trying?

I know I may have asked this before but I have been in and out of a relationship (neither of us live together) for a long time about three years but we do not seem to be moving forward or getting closer and perhpas we are more friends than lovers and also think that sort of spark gone if you know what I mean.

I have a family as does he and to integrate them would be hard but a challenge but he does not wnat that and says lets wait 2 years or so and maybe it will be easier?

what would you think to that?

I want commitment and love and dont really get it I dont think although he does text, email and is sweet .

He's happy to have a relationship that is at arm's length; you want a relationship where your oh's arms are around you on a daily basis.

In this respect, you are incompatible. Keep him as a friend/fwb and start looking for a man who isn't a commitment phobe because, even if you wait 10 years, this relationship isn't going anywhere and can't fulfil your needs.
