I was going to change my name but diidn't bother as this is not exactly juicy! My dp and I have been together years and we adore each other We have made a fair bit of capital buying and selling houses and decided to sell up and buy a smaller property and then set up our own property business with the rest.He has now said that he doesn't want to and it is too risky he just wants a quiet settled life with ds and I and will still sell to clear our mortgage and then carry on as we were.I am devastated as i am quite ambitious (or was)and really thought this was our big chance. He is a really easy going person and says that property and design is my thing and he is happy as we are!I feel I have to re think everything now and for the 1st time ever feel we want different things.I feel he is getting a bit pipe and slippers just as I get really excited about the changes we were planning He has gone to work for the 1st time ever today without kissing me goodbye -silly arse!

Oh dear. Give it a few days or weeks to think it over and see if either of you changes their mind.

noddyholder · 14/12/2005 13:27

would he be happy if you did it with someone else? or is it something that you wanted to do together? Would it be possible to find another business partner?

noddyholder · 14/12/2005 13:37

The thing is we would need all of our joint capital to do it my half wouldn't be enough and it was planned so that he could give up his job and we'd do it together as a partnership

whoops

MeerkatsUnite · 14/12/2005 13:42

He may actually have a point by not wanting to do this (well at least not without proper legal and financial advice first off). However, he should have spoken to you about this at great length long before now.

Will he actually be prepared to sit down and go through the business plans drawn up with a business banking advisor?. If it is shown to be a viable prospect in the longer term as well, he may feel more inclined to proceed further.

noddyholder · 14/12/2005 13:48

We have done all that and an accountant who looked at the figures for our last 5 properties said we obviously had a talent for spotting bargains and renovating them!I think he just doesn't want the hassle or he is worried that I will become all serious and businessy (which I will when appropriate)He does get a little bit unnerved if I am very enthusiastic about things because thats not him although he would enjoy the profits I'm sure.Because of all my ill health ew have no pensions etc and so I thought this was something I could do to help Will be waiting stony faced with chastity belt on when he gets in tonight

Is he worried that the stress of a property dealing business might damage your health further? He may be pretending he doesn't think it's a good idea because he wants you to slow down and stay fit?

noddyholder · 14/12/2005 13:59

I think we will have to really talk about it tonight. The whole point in us doing it together was so I could project manage with him because of my health. He really doesn't think my health is an issue i think he is just scared of change and risk whereas i'm not
