im having most of the rooms in the house redecorated.
had new windows put in last week.
having a new bathroom fitted.

and all i feel is resentful. why am i having this mess of builders etc thrust upon me?

the kitchen which really needs doing isnt being done.
oh, and dd wont stop screaming. the little cow.

Living with building work is hell, even if you do actually want the end result. Sympathy.

Auntybrandybutter · 02/12/2005 19:17

I feel for you.We are having lounge decorated by my FIL. Taking forever!!!

stitch · 02/12/2005 19:20

i actually dont want the end result as i wasnt in the least bit bothered by the colour of the walls before hand. or the windows, i thought they were perfectly functional before.
the only thing that i think needs doing is the bathroom, and that is taking forever.

tbh I was glad the bathrooms were done while we weren't living here and now wish we'd taken the plunge then and done more. Still undecided about widnows and kitchen for same reasons. Have bad memories of having our heating overhauled and boiler replaced 7 years ago.

Can I be really nosy and ask how much the windows are costing you ? I'm sure it will all be lovely and worth it in the end.

stitch · 02/12/2005 19:58

absolutely no idea lizs.
i think thats one of the reasons i am feeling soput out. its supposed to be my house, yet i have about as much input into all this as the next door neighbours cat.

we really didnt need new windows. we need an oven that works, and more than two burners on the cooker.

knowing dh, he probly bargained the windows down to cost.

the plumber says the sink should have a base.
the dh wants a minimalist thing straight out of the wall. ffs. when it crashes on the kids feet and breaks their toes, he will say it is my fault for letting them try to climb onto it.
idiot.

I don't think you are ungrateful - I'd be pretty fed up if dh made such big decisions without proper input from me!

PantomimEDAMe · 02/12/2005 20:42

Blimey, so this is something dh is doing without cleaning it with you? I'd be furious.

stitch · 02/12/2005 20:50

yeah, but what good is fury going to do?
he says i knew about it. so cant complain.

hi all, thought id let you know the outcome.
bathroom finished today. hoepfully will be able to have a shower in iit tomorrow, sealamt or something still needs to dry a bit.

decorating still going on. just when i hope it is finished, dh finds something else for the guy to fix. or the electricians come along and ruin something he has just doen, so it needs to be fixed.
im beginning to think maybe i should get him a christmas pressie too.
