how can I help my recently separated friend?

she hasn't got much cash and has one young DC. I don't know her very well and only recently discovered she's split from partner. All sounds very difficult. I am not really someone she would call for support but I'd like to do something to show I care. What is best?

offer to babysit
listen if she wants to talk
