how much is too much

i am not much of a drinker myself am a sociable drinker not keen on drinking when i have 2 dc's one who has special needs.

have gone through a hard time recently, but am getting more and more pissed off with dh, drinks beer all the time or so it seems to me anyway.

his mum was an alcoholic and lost her life at 52 due to this.

am i being unreasonable ?

well how much does he drink?

the amount changes could be a case of beer a week or more

depending on if he is working as works shifts.

and we dont have a lot of money and he always is short at end of month so comes to me to borrow.

in my opinion i would not spend money on a case of beer if i didnt know i had enough money to live on

My hubby drinks a case a week most weeks ( there is 15 in the box) and it's not too much for us, I am not a big drinker either, I think it depends very much on the person........has he always drank this much?

well i would be talking 24 or more and not spread over a week maybe 4 days if he is working the other 3, maybe i am being unreasonable but with the history it scares me .

If he doesn't have enough money to buy beer, and you do not want to spend money on beer, why do you give it to him.

8 cans of beer a day is excessive and what an alcoholic would drink, alcoholics however need to drink, not want to drink there is a difference.

Does he shake if he doesn't drink? i.e his hands get shaky.

why do you have "your money" and "his money"

why does he borrow from you when he has spent his money?

recommended safe limits fro men are 21 units a week- check on the cans how many units are in them- could be 1, 1.5 or 2 depending on strength- beers vary hugely.

fairenuff, i dont give him money to spend on beer i give him money towards end of month to keep him going for things.

amenagrey, we have always been like this and i am the sensible one with money i work and he works so we each have our own accounts.

fabbychic , yeh i know what you mean as the mil was an alcholic and died and i know exactly the way she was, no he doesnt shake but it appears he needs a drink to chill, and is in foul mood if he doesnt get one.

I am not stating he is an alcholic but what i fear is that he will go the way his mum did, as she didnt start out needing to drink she started as wanting to drink.
