Could I be allegic to my husband's sperm?

I feel irritated after sex, feels like a high pitched reverbration or cystitus or like sperm is trying to move slowly up to it's destinations and it is very irriating. The feeling might be enjoyable if it lasted a short while, but if it goes on and and on it is very annoying. The only way to get rid is to shower and shower with the shower head between my legs and pointed up.

Our sex life was pretty inactive for ages and now is back on track but I have to ask him not to ejaculate in me.

Could I be allergic to his sperm?
Does he have loads of protein in his semen due to dead sperm due to previously inactive sex life
Could he have super sperm that are so virulent that I can feel them moving up?
Might I have lost muscle strength after the two births and as a result feel this sensation?
Could it be due to the Mirena coil?

My husband says there is no way it is an std.

Has anyone else experienced this

Only way to be sure is to test - stuff like Chlamydia doesn't necessarily show for a while. (I'm not saying he's cheated on you)

Unless you have other suspicions about the time you weren't active, there's no reason to suspect he's been unfaithful...

I had a partner for four years, I had constant thrush because i was allergic to his sperm, so yes you could be. Have you had a smear? or any checks to see if you have anything? If you have thrush you would be clear after treatment but if he wasnt treated would give it you back again causing a vicious circle.

Clamydia doesn't stay dormant you might not have any symptoms but won't have been lying dormant, women can go months/years with clamydia but cos there's no symptoms doesn't mean its not doing harm. And did he say that to you out the blue or did you ask him if he'd been with someone.

Yes, you can be allergic to sperm. You can be allergic to the sperm of just one man. Allergies can develop suddenly.

It's a bummer, isn't it?!
I think you should go and get tested for STIs anyway. As a plus, if you go to a GUM clinic rather than your GP, they're more likely to have heard of this problem and will be able to advise.

Ask also about Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome, though that is unlikely if you only have symptoms after sex.

Showing my ignorance here, but if one was allergic to semen, would you be allergic to it all over? I mean wouldn't it also irritate if you swallowed it, or got it on your hand, or whatever?

My OH is allergic to various herbs and comes out in rash from touching them, never mind eating them.

Yes you can be allergic to sperm (I itch like mad whenever me and dh have a bit) but I'm with everyone else here, get yourself tested for other things. You could have something that's easily treatable that if not attended to could do you some long term damage. Let us know how you get on

I have had an awful year with the symptoms you have described, thrush and irritation after sex for about four months. After a 6 day course of pessaries it eventually cleared. I was advised to always use lube during sex and since then havent experienced any irritation. Hth

I just wanted to update this in case any one else has the same problem in future, and does a search on this site.

Feistychick it seems we have suffered the same plight!

At the moment I am advised to treat with pessaries, to drink 1 litre of water a day and loads of cranberry juice. It seems it might be cystitis (I can't believe how uncomfortable it was, I also can't believe I didn't think of it either). It's possible the strings from the Mirena coil have been colonised with thrush (urrgh - gross). So by the looks of things it's cystitus and maybe also some thrush.

So canneston pessaries, tonnes of water and cranberry juice and lots of lube are the solution (fingers crossed). Partner needs to use canneston as well.

Just realised I even said cystitis in my opening post but I wasn't doing anything to counteract my suspicions. I am a fool, it was just so bad I didn't think it actually was cystitis.

Molly my problems also stemmed from the copper coil, so was treated for cystitis then that cleared then bacterial vaginosis then thrush... I have really been in severe discomfort for much of this year. I had even contemplated having my coil taken out but thankfully it all seems to have cleared up now. Only mild itching towards my periods. Glad you have found a solution, it is awful
