DP joining retained firefighters - I'm supportive but...

DP is joining the retained firefighters and should have completed his training by Christmas.

I'm really pleased for him as his current job is desk-bound and he wold love to be more active, so this gives him a good balance... but... I spent 5 years answering the call of a pager everytime it went off when I was in the coastguard, so I know the demands it will place on us all as a family.

No more nipping out to the swimming pool or Tescos etc in the evening for me, things I don't mind sacrificing at all, and should be able to fit into the day quite easily as I will be working from home more shortly... but how do I sit down with him to explain my worries without sounding as though I am negative - I'm not, I'm 100% behind him and am sure we can be organised enough to incorporate this into our lives... but we need to talk about it.
