If somebody blocks you on there, does Facebook notify you, or do they just disappear?

You don't get notified, they just disappear.

If someone blocks you you cannot see their profile via search.

Why do you ask? I have blocked the 'bitch face' who was having an affair with my H because she was stalking me!

I blocked the ho who my ex h was having affair with until I realised she is now miserable as sin with the abusive prick. Unblocked so she can see all the pics of me having the time of my life with my new college friends :)

It is a weird medium, fb, the way people can actually see into your life ! I would advise you to block her again and keep her blocked.
