Bleeding after sex (TMI, sorry)

I did not know where to put this, I didn't want it to go in chat!

Basically, I had sex for the first time in cough nine years at the weekend.

Today I woke up and there was some bloody discharge when I wiped, and then as I was sat on the loo, I felt a large clot rule thing of blood, like you get with a period come out.

I had a smear one year ago, everything was normal.

Period is due in 8 days.

Am panicking a bit here!

Did it hurt during sex?? Do you often get bleeding before period due? Is your cycle regular?
If you feel a like a period is about to happen , cramps, sore etc, then i would but it down to that. If not visit doc or practice nurse - it will reassure you.

No not during sex, but before hand a bit, tmi but I don't masterbate so foreplay was a bit of a shock to the system!

Cycle is regularish - been tracking it on an Iphone app fir a few months. One time is 29 days, the shortest 24. I have never, ever bled between periods.

Since I posted I bled some more, I think it may be my period, 8 days early. Normal consistancy of period for me.

Which leaves me in another quandry, I was going to start taking the pill (as an extra precaution along with condoms, I'm terrified of falling pregnant again).

I was supposed to start taking them on the first day of my next period - which may be now??? I don't know if if I should start taking them or not today?

I know his sounds so stupid, but ten years in a sexless marridge has left me a bit out of sorts with all this stuff!

I often find if I was due for my period in a few days anyway, that sex can bring on some bleeding

Maybe you could see your doctor for some advice ?

You can actually start taking the Pill at any time, but if you don't commence at the right time, it just wouldn't be as effective until after your next period

i think ur prob right and it is early period brought on by sex. re pill i would contact ur pratice nurse or clinic and they will be able to advise on taking pill today. hope this helps.

Thanks all. Got some crampy pains, so assuming my period is a week early.
