A survey has found that the best combination of children to have is two daughters.

Obviously the surveyors didn't ask my sister!!

welshbyrd, my girls have short chic hair for that very reason!

Why don't parents of one child get a mention Hmm

A few weeks ago there was some publicity about a study that had found that there is a correlation between the number of children in the family and their happiness. So only children were happiest and the more children you had the unhappier the existing children were. Food for thought might cheer up up Fattyacid!

i'm 40 and speak to my sister about once a year. this is an improvement on wanting to kill each each other every five minutes. i can still remember my mum getting in the car and driving off as she couldn't bear to spend another second in our bickering hellish company.

idyllic indeed.

i suspect whoever did this survey didn't speak to my mother.

What an utterly pointless study Hmm.

Sick to the back teeth of all this "perfect family" crap. Why can't we treat all children as the individuals that they are?

Fennel · 08/04/2011 15:04

That's a very silly survey. So if we'd stuck at 2 girls they'd be all domestic and quiet, sitting neatly doing their tapestry and not arguing? Hmm

I have 3 daughters and think that's great, and I have a sneaking envy of those with 4 daughters.

Best combination for who, I wonder?

My sister & I didn´t get on for years-which was why I didn´t want two daughters.

dementedma · 08/04/2011 16:13

my two daughters spent the last 10 years pretty much hating each other and fighting non stop. Only now when one is 20 and one is 17 are they starting to talk civilly to each other and actually lend each other things Shock
never thought that day would come!!
Also have a younger DS - it's like having an alien in the house!! example:
me - "dementedboy it's time for your bath"
Him "NOOOOO! You'll never take me alive!!!!!"

also, Dementedboy removes cereal bowl out of cupboard at breakfast time, holds it above his head in both hands and shouts "Behold" The bowl of POWER!!!!"
The girls never did any of that!

loving "dementedboy" demented ma
He is making me tired just reading about him Smile

I'm sorry- but I am one of just 2 girls. I loathe my sister and one of the few reasons I speak to her is my mum.
We are completely opposite in personality, but both of us have a stubborn streak a mile wide. Unfortunately, I am more of a peace-maker and she is a Violet Elizabeth Bott. Always has been like that.
The only reason I think I am reasonably sane is that I kept myself to myself and didn't interfere, unless she forced the issue.
The one time she demanded I do her French homework for her, I refuse and she starts walloping me in front of mum. Mum tells me to stop complaining and just do it for her. No Effing Way did I. I swore at her for the first time.
