BT email/chat.

Just been into my husbands email. For no other reason than we had a BT problem on our line, new customers, all the stuff is in his email.

He is at work and I was waiting in today for it to be sorted, he forgot to leave the details at home, so I had to retrieve them from his email. He cannot be contacted at work. I happen to know his email.

Up pops lots of chat windows from people such as Christinabangs, nothing in them as he is now offline ofc, so no current chat.

So is this normal for a new email address, is this what happens with BT, I feel really sick. Lots of spam requests for an email address days old Hmm

I have a BT email address. This is normal. In the Updates section you get all sorts of crap from people you've never heard of. And an unbelieveable amount of spam. I wouldn't worry unless there is any other reason to worry.

chat windows? no that is not normal. Spam email maybe but not chat windows

Internetspam · 22/03/2011 13:25

Yes. Chat windows.

That would make me very suspicious.
Is there any other reason to suggest you have something to worry about?

itsohsoquiet · 22/03/2011 13:30

I would probably casually mention it and see what his response is. If it was my DP I would be able to tell if he was lying or not. Could you try this?

Internetspam · 22/03/2011 13:33

No, he'll say what he thinks I want to hear.

I just don't think people spam new addresses on BT chat, opening up chat windows do they, unless I'm missing something.

I don't know what to say to him.

Probably nothing in it, I get chat windows in yahoo from girls with similar names ) . As I am paranoid I personally would check back again in his email after a while. Although like I said I really do think it is spam.

We're on BT too. When I first activated the account, I got a lot of 'xyz is waiting to chat now' type messages. And little pop ups that 'so and so is online now'

You can change the settings on the account so this doesn't come up. Contact BT Broadband and they'll talk you through it. I think it's in Account Settings or Security. Con't remember how I did it.

I doubt he's up to no good. If he was, he'd most likely use a different email that you knew nothing about.

'can't' even!

Does sound like spam. I don't have a BT email but in my MSN instant messenger I'm always having to block requests from girl-sounding email addresses like [email protected]... or whatever. They're spam bots usually and the girl's name in the email address is there to entice guys to respond.

If that's the only thing worrying you, then I'm sure it's fine.
