I've been with him for about 4 years, 3 married. It was really boring about 3 years in to the relationship, and to be honest I was having my doubts...

...But then a few days ago he woke me up at 6 o'clock with a basket full of honey, jam, bread, fruit and a wide smile on his face. I had no idea what was going on... He told me that he took the day off work and wanted to spend it with me... We ended up next to a little river with trees and long grass in the (fairly) warm spring sun just laughing at stupid things and kissing for hours on end...

It made me feel like a teenager again. Made me remember why I fell in love with him. So magical. I just wanted to share my joy with anyone who will listen...

So anyone else had something like this? a random, spontaneous act of love?

I used to work nights and while I was asleep he flew to another city to go to Tiffany and co and get my engagement ring. I had no idea and he had set things up with a friend that he was supposed to be there. If I rang them they would say he had just left. I was very impressed when he proposed the next week.

NO Sad

jellybelly25 · 18/03/2011 10:58

That's lovely. I will sit and wait for my dh to do something similar. If he doesn't, I might write him some instructions along these lines and just pretend that he thought of it himself.

antlerqueen · 18/03/2011 11:10

lol, jelly. or just leave this thread open by accident :)

jellybelly25 · 18/03/2011 11:48

Noooo! He'd know which one was me Blush

My DH surprised me with a new diamond ring a few minutes after our DS was born but I treasured the look on his face the most. I knew then that he had so much respect for me. When DD was born 3 years later, I got another ring so I wear 3 rings on my wedding finger.

We are TTC for our 'final baby' so Wink Wink

Good God, no.

PigeonPie · 18/03/2011 12:38

These are lovely.

DH isn't very prone to spontaneous 'acts' but a while ago I had a knock at the door. When I opened it there the florist with a large arrangement of flowers with at least 6 red heart-shaped helium balloons.

It was a huge arrangement and it has made me smile every time I think of it - even now.

This morning DH slapped me on the arse, licked his lips and then said "Daddys got a sweet tooth for mummy"

I reckon I'll take home a chocolate cake to cure his sweet tooth and piss off up to bed early with my book :)

Pancakeflipper · 18/03/2011 12:47

My DP left his scaggy underpants hanging off the heated towel rail this morning cos he knows how much I love picking up after him and putting them in the laundry basket. Does that count?

Skifit · 18/03/2011 12:55

My DP i have been with nearly 3 years is kind, caring thoughtful, loving, considerate, very hot for sex, tolerant.
He makes me feel special and important,. . . .
unlike all the other awful men i have had in the past.
. . .see, the habits of a lifetime CAN be broken.

Wish I had met him 25 yrs ago and had my 3 children with him...Sad

Takeresponsibility · 18/03/2011 12:56

For my birthday DP brought me teas and toast in bed, arranged for someone to come round at midday to give me a manicure, pedicure and facial, had flowers delivered with a note saying "pack an overnight bag" and then whisked me off to dinner and overnighter (four poster bed etc) at a hotel whose restaurant I had mentioned months before.

It wasn't what he had done that impressed me but the fact that he had done it at all.

And yes he buys flowers, and we share the chores etc.

Haha at SocialChameleon!

Mine once made me a special 'card' - out of two blocks of pallet wood attached by old hinges. It had three powdered candy hearts glued to the front. It had the dual distinction of being very ugly and very big. Just what every girl wants. Hmm I appreciated the original thought but I secretly burned it one day.

stubbornhubby · 18/03/2011 13:00

flowercup if I did that I can guarantee you Mrs Stubborn would be

  • unwilling to cancel at a moments notice all the things she had planned to do on her valuable non-work week-day
  • annoyed that I had wasted a precious day of my vacation without making a proper plan
  • generally suspicious that I had been made redundant or diagnosed with terminal illness or had some ulterior motive.
flowercup · 19/03/2011 00:20

Ahhh, these are lovely.... Its not that he doesnt leave his pants lying around or scratch his arse and veg out, but it's these little moments that keep me attached...
