Good article. I've seen a lot that are less well balanced and which suggest that any friendship of any kind between people of the opposite gender is a Bad Thing that will lead to disaster, which isn't so. But if people are closer to their new friend than they are to their partner and flirting in some way with them and sharing their emotions with them, and hiding that closeness, that's a sure sign of big danger.

I don't think her account was of an affair- she's stretching the point. It was more about a close, totally platonic friendship which her husband was jealous of- never ever any suggesetion that they wanted to be together, or that they fancied each other like mad, or the "eternal triangle".
