Been on 2 dates with a guy and he's asked me to be his girlfriend!!

As the title says, I have been on 2 dates with a really lovely guy and he has just asked me (via text) to be his gf. I have said yes even though tbh, I feel that it is far too early to be labelling our "relationship". He has now posted himself as in a relationship on fb. I have not done the same yet so my name is not on his profile and I am still listed as single on mine.

The thing is, I really like him but I don't want things to go wrong because he's being pushy and forching things along.

Was I wrong to say I would be his gf this soon??

Oh and x-posted - glad to hear he has reacted well frazzle. Really pleased for you :)

the thing that i think is a bit pathetic is him immediately changing his FB status, is he trying to prove something to an ex?

frazzle26 · 20/02/2011 20:00

I think that's a bit mean calling him pathetic. The main point is that he has recognised that i don't want to be labelled as his gf just yet and that i was a bit quick in agreeing to be labelled as such. FB should probably be taken out of the equation.

They're not immature! What in the world is wrong with a man asking t be exclusive in a slightly cutesy way?

I suppose most MNrs would rather be cool and say "We're jus dating" then moan when the guy isn't commiting.

"it seems like there is some urgency to 'lock this down' and declare it an official relationship as if there is some kind of status, self-esteem and security conferred on you once you're 'part of a couple'. that's not the case. you will always be you, whether on your own or in a relationship, so take some time to find out who that person is and what she wants; it doesn't seem to me from your recent posts that you are sure of those things yet."

madonnawhore that is completely the opposite of the problem the OP has Hmm. She doesn't want this declared as an official exclusive relationship.

Well it sounds much more positive nowSmile

I would be surprised at anyone over 16 asking me to be his girlfriend, although you did literally ask for it!
Relationships should just develop at their own pace. Facebook status nonsense makes it more artificial.
It's fair enough to ask someone you are dating if they are still dating other women, and to be honest if a bloke said yes to that after at least 1 date with me I wouldn't be seeing him again, but calling someone your boyfriend or girlfriend after a couple of dates seems a bit odd.
I think the calling someone your girlfriend bit does make it sound as though the relationship is more about impressing other people than building a relationship with someone.

nbyet · 20/02/2011 21:40

medicalmayhem how is that pathetic? And another assumption leapt to - now we have an ex on the scene he is trying to impress! Some very active imaginations online tonight.

madonnawhore · 20/02/2011 22:08

fab I meant that more from his perspective, but i was also writing with the op's other threads in mind where she's complained of hating being single and stuff.

but i see that it's all been sorted so that's great. op i'm glad you're happy with how things have turned out and i wish you all the best. enjoy your date on weds :)

Great stuff frazzle. Sounds like you're onto a winner. Enjoy the ROMANCE - there seems to be less and less of it around!

And ignore the man haters. You can see there are a lot of bitter people here who genuinely don't like reading about the nice stories!

Good luck!

frazzle26 · 22/02/2011 09:12

Thankes Givemesomespace, a nice positive post!!

Me too, enjoy it.

As I read through this thread I was mostly struck by your need to be honest and up front with him.

Sounds like you are! And he sounds like a nice honest sort of person, so do enjoy! Smile
