Hi there

Just a quick one I read on a forum that doggy style was the best position to conceive . I find this position hard to do so can you post ways to help me achieve this position so that its enjoyable for us

Do you want like videos or photographs? Because my batteries are flat and it'll take a while to charge them.

You can conceive in any position, though I doubt that's what you're really asking.

No1Babe · 15/02/2011 12:05

neither actually . A description will do fine

You don't need to have sex in a position you don't enjoy to get pregnant.

Sperm know what to do. You just need to have sex. In a position you like.

i had difficulty concieving my second son until I was given the tip 'do it Doggy Style'
Someone suggested I may have a tilted cirvex and the sperm had a better chance of reaching the egg that way!

No1Babe · 15/02/2011 12:11

Yeah but I just want to exhaust all avenues before going down the route of assisted conception.

I think with your partners penis inside you is considered to be the best position.

SoupDragon · 15/02/2011 12:13

What do you find hard about doggy style?

ShowOfHands · 15/02/2011 12:14

No1Babe, if you're having trouble conceiving/have suspected fertility issues, position is irrelevant.

Honestly, you don't have to direct the sperm, sit with your bum on a pillow and legs in the air afterwards etc.

The human body is clever. Don't put off fertility investigations if you seriously think there might be problems.

Malificence · 15/02/2011 12:14

Doesn't orgasm aid conception by way of the cervix dipping down and sucking up the semen?

Actually I think the bet way is to not get up and rush to the bathroom after sex but to lie with your hips up to direct the liquified semen in to the uterus, it liquifies after approx. 20 minutes.

Lulumaam · 15/02/2011 12:15

how long you been TTC for ?

ShowOfHands · 15/02/2011 12:15

Malificence, you don't need to do all that lying down, not going to the loo stuff. In fact it can cause cystitis for some women who really should go to the loo as soon as possible after sex.

I don't know about orgasms, they're a myth aren't they? Grin

six months

How old are you?

It's normal for it to take 1-2yrs to get pregnant. Six months is very little time indeed.

Lulumaam · 15/02/2011 13:08

really wouldn't be that concerned after 6 mths

onehotmomma · 15/02/2011 15:59

I wouldn't be concerned either at only 6 mths. It took me two years to concieve DS and 3 months to concieve DD :)

NotJustKangaskhan · 15/02/2011 16:20

I've read them to be 1) man on top, with a pillow under the woman's bum, 2) doggy style, 3) lying side to side. These apparently get closest to the cervix. Also, some reccommend putting in a menstral cup after sex to keep the sperm close to cervix rather than flowing out.

Best of luck with it!

Changing2011 · 15/02/2011 17:39

well Ive tried it all ways and still no cigar! And I really have tried it all ways!

BlueFergie · 15/02/2011 17:47

Actually I think you might be right about doggy style. All three of mine were conceived that way. My first two were conceived first month but the on I am pregnanat with now took three months. The first two months we didn't do doggy style, third we did and bingo.
Don't know what advice to give you. What exactly to you find difficult about it?

No1Babe · 15/02/2011 19:08

I just find it hard to keep it from slipping out TMI i know will have to practise more lol

BlueFergie · 15/02/2011 19:22

Ok God can't believe I am discussing this. In RL I never talk about sex with anyone onther that DH, but in the interest of procreation I will try and get over my Catholic conditioning!!
With doggy style it helps if DH/DP is as aroused as possible. Softening will result in slippage! So the harder the better! Also angle and positon are key. Try to get level with each other so lower yourself a little down/ put cushions under DH/ DPs knees if her need to be brought up a bit (we do this if I am on the couch and he is kneeling at the side of it).

Ok thats it, just off to throw cold water on my face to stop the blushing Blush Blush Blush

HTH

carlywurly · 15/02/2011 19:41

It's ok, blue, we can't see you! Grin

I can't write this in a coy way so am just going to come out with it (so to speak!) Do what Blue says, and then keep the thrusts really shallow so your DP is inside you, but never pulls back to more than halfway out. That way, he's less likely to slip out.

No1Babe · 15/02/2011 20:09

thanks ladies looking forward to trying it now
