I'm planning my wedding at the moment, and last night i got round to thinking about what our first dance will be. I haven't got a bloody clue!

I'm after a bit of inspiration, so what was yours?

Jasmine and sandalwood, I smell the incense burning
I was the faithless one, but you've got this worm turning
And now I do believe I open up and breathe you into me
I'd like to drink from you, worship the ground you walk on
Be yours in our communion

Take me to the church, take me to the church of you
Take me to the church, take me to the church of you

And I'll be on my knees to give you my confession
Subject of my desire, object of my obsession
Your body like a shrine, I offer sacrifices up to you
And you will let me in to places sweet and sacred
To where the flame is naked

Take me to the church, take me to the church of you
Take me to the church, take me to the church of you

And I'll be on my feet to sing my praises to ya
Sing glory Hallelujah

Take me to the church, take me to the church of you
Take me to the church, take me to the church of you.

Gosh going back a while here!! Was almost 17 years ago and it was "Especially for You" by Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue.I think dh was suitably embarassed as he's not the romantic type lol

Hi there ,
we had 'years from now' by Dr Hook, i have always loved the song and it seemed right.

We were meant to have The Judds - Love Can Build a Bridge, but my dad lost the CD during the course of the day, so had to use a last minute stand in .

We had Night and Day by Ella Fitzgerald which we both love as we're mad retro fans and love all that swing stuff. Unfortunately it might not be modern enough for you. But I do reckon you should have one, it's so lovely when you hear it unexpectedly somewhere

katylou25 · 07/11/2005 13:19

We had Frankie Valle - I love you Baby cos not smoochy and good to dance too - Dj played it at end of night too and we were in middle of dance floor with a huge circle of drunk people holding hands and singing round us - was fab!

Didn't have one - DH and I both have 3 left feet each.

Gizmo · 07/11/2005 13:54

Hermykne: so presumably you get people trying many novel spellings of your name too?

My absolute favourite was the letter I received addressed to Ms Armani C. Armani! Must have thought I was a Footballer's Wife

We had 'It must be love' by Madness. Sweet, direct and you get to do the Madness walk, if you're brave enough to try in a wedding dress.

Finished with Perfect Day (Lou Reed) which I also want played at my funeral.

melissasmummy · 18/11/2005 14:36

We didn't dance, butthe first song that was played was "Welcome to the Jungle" By Guns n Roses! DH picked it, so not sure what he was trying to say.

I just put it down to the fact that we were, are, massive GnR fans!

munz · 18/11/2005 15:48

ours was aerosmith - don't wanna miss a thing, we did want endless love but my cousins g/f didn't show up wiht the CD

was more of a round in circles and swey as DH is a typical squaddie for dancing! lol.

miniminx · 18/11/2005 16:06

We didn't have a proper reception.

If we had have done so, we'd probably have had "Wild is the Wind" - David Bowie, or something from Kate Bush's Hounds of Love album.

I also like the Madness - Must be Love, suggestion. And the Ella Fitzgerald.

When I had my third caesarean section, we made a party out of it and had Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess". Conseqently, this is probably the album that has the most nostalgic significance for me.

Something like "Summertime" would be nice at a wedding, although not contemporary and obviously not good for a vigorous dance!
