Hi There

I have feelings for someone i went to school with a long time ago, we recently met up again, had a couple of drinks together, told each other what we had been up to etc etc.
But then i haven't heard from him for a couple of weeks, sent textx, phone calls, then i get told that he is in hospital, the last time i saw him he was going to the doctors that afternoon, and she sent him straight to hospital, he should be coming out today, but the reason he went in hospital was for mental health issues, i'm going through counselling myself at the minute due to my marriage breakdown and how i was treated, i'm just not sure if i should stand by, or do i just walk away and not get involved??

A bit of both, if I were you - it's nice to be thoughtful but don't forget to look after number one. Tricky one though. You are going on gossip alone - I wouldn't assume anything until he decides to tell you about it himself.

I would say do not get involved. You are both fragile and at the moment he is just an old aquaintance, with problems of his own.

Maybe just text or call to say you hope he is ok, and then take things very slowly from there. You don't know why he was in hospital, and for what reasons, so try not to jump to any conclusions about him.

Maybe see your counselling through before you get too involved with anyone else though, it takes time to recover after going through something traumatic. Hope it goes well for you.

Thanks for all your advice, i'm not going on gossip, i got the information from his son.

I know we are just old aquaintances but we have been talking for a while, but only met up a couple of times, but we hard a real laugh, got on really well.

i do know about his health history, he has told me, so i kind of knew what i was getting involved with to an extent, but not this bad!!!

Dont want to feel as though i'm running away, just when he needs someone!!

Do not get involved any further. There are too many complications here and both of you are too fragile.

Crub any rescuing/saving instinct you may have or feel towards this man.

loosewomen · 24/01/2011 19:28

Thing is it's not that easy, i do feel a lot for this man, and feel as though i cant walk away, and dont want to, i just want some advice.I dont want to go down hill after all the progress i have made, i have come such a long way at the moment with my counselling.

In all honestly, you are probably not really 'good' for each other. You both need to be able to stand strong on your own two feet before getting into a relationship and if you have come out of a bad marriage then you surely need some time to sort yourself out - without the complications of any relationship, let alone this one?

Thank you all for your advice, i have some serious thinking to do now!!
