Wierd behaviour or aibu?

Last night DP's ex's son called him on his mobile. DP was in this lads life from the age of 3 to the age of 13 but when him and ex wife split, he didn't see much of him anymore. He's now 18 and DP very, very rarely hears from him or sees him.

So anyway last night he called on DP's mobile. DP "accidently" switched it off before answering it Hmm I said "just call him back them" and he said "I can't, I have no credit". I then went to get a shower and I know for a fact that whilst I was in the shower, DP text his ex wife.

I have NO PROBLEM with him texting his ex-step-son or his ex but why be so secretive about it? why say he has no credit and then text behind my back? why not answer the phone in front of me?

Bloody wierdo.

Are you sure he isn't involved with his ex?

I wouldn't have thought so, they do have a child together so there is reason for them to contact but why be secretive? it doesn't make much sense.

well this is it - if it were ordinary contact, there would be no reason to be secretive. However if she is calling him from his son's phone, for example, and there is something odd going on, he wouldn't want to answer in front of you.

this is why I thought 'Oh dear' iyswim.

I see what you mean, it looks suss.

I asked him tonight "did you ever find out what DSS wanted?" and he replied "no, can't have been important cos he never rang back".

So I said "perhaps you should text his mum and ask if everything is ok?"

He said "nah, not ringing her, no way!" [hhm]

So I said "have you heard from her recently?" and he replied "none, not at all".

Lying bastard.

I wouldn't be colluding with his games, tbh

I would be confronting him on why he lied, not once but twice when you gave him every opportunity to tell you what was going on

his behaviour is not that of a blameless person...he has some explaining to do, and I would be making him do it
