Hi i am just wondering how long it has taken people to go through the divorce proceedings.
I have signed the papers and my solicitor has sent them off so how long could i be waiting for my ex to sign it and for the proceedings to go through.
My ex wants rid so is going to sign the papers straight away, he wants the divorce done before his baby is due in mid november 05. Is this poss?

When my sister got her divorce it took about three months in total. It took about six weeks for the decreee nisi to come through, and then another six weeks for the decree absolute.

Hi, can I ask a question as well?

Is it quick if you agree on everything? My xdh starting to play silly "b's" - and it's him who wants the divorce! Will this delay everything?

Think he's trying to get me to walk away with nothing which I am very close to doing as I'm so stressed out, but I have my dd's to think about.

if your xdh is playing silly bs then you might be best seeing a solicitor. A friend of mine, her xdh has been messing around alot, 2yrs later she still isn't divorced, She is now looking for a new solicitor.
My current partner didn't bother signing his divorce papers just completely ignored them and still got divorced quite quick.
(bless i started this thread and now i'm giving advise wierd) Anyway good luck, and if his playing silly bs you probably are best getting rid.

I think it is extremely unlikely that you will get everything done by the 5th of November, particularly if there are children/babies involved.
The administrative process with divorce is fairly slow: papers have to be filed before the court, you get the Decree Nisi and then you carry and file for the Decree Absolute.
It is a tedious, slow proceedure. The quickest I know is about 3 months.

hi thank you for your reply i am hoping to be divorced by january. I have already been to court about the children so i dont need to worry about that and the same judge is dealing with the divorce and has already told myself and my xdh that we will get our divorce. Fingers crossed.

LL - can take much longer if you don't agree or get solicitors involved.
My ex-h and I decided everything first, wrote it down & both signed it. Then got the forms off the internet, filled them in & signed then together & dropped them at court. No solicitors were ever involved. Took 12 weeks and cost us about 130 quid. My parents disgareed on a couple of things & got solicitors involved. Took them nearly 4 years and cost 12 grand
