Think marriage is over. Practical issues

Not wanting to go into details but I am seriosly considering ending marriage.

Just don't see a way out. We have a house with a big mortgage. Houses like ours are not selling.

I couldn't afford to keep house going on my own and (d)h couldn't pay maintenance and afford to keep house. Just don't see a way out.

How do others maange it?

Sell the house. You may take a big hit on it but if you've ended your marriage you don't have a choice.

Either that or live together but separated. Good for the kids and if you can stand each other probably a good option to look at.

My sister her DP lived in house they bought together and their DC for nearly two years after they split.

They still had to take a small lost on the house. It was not ideal for any of them - including DC.

When my ex and I divorced we lived in a big 5 bed and it still needed work from when we moved in only a year before.

He moved out at the age of 43 and lived with family and friends. We sold the house, made a loss and split the money 60/40.

We now both live in rented, i work part time, get help from child tax credits and bring up two boys under 8.

They go to stay with their dad every other weekend and I have to admit that I have not been this happy in over 10 years.

I used to look at rented houses and imagine myself and the boys living there, just us 3, and they have coped very well.
