recurring dream

I keep dreaming about someone who was sort of an ex only we never really did get together properly. This was quite a while ago I have since been in a long term relationship which is mostly good some ups and downs with children.

The dreams I have are usually very sexual and involve us being in love. Im finding them very weird and I dont know why Im still having them so frequently. I dont know where this person is and Im not that bothered. He would have made a rubbish boyfriend/husband- very unreliable wishy washy uncommitted. I did like him for a number of years but I decided he wasn't really worth the bother. I saw him once when I was with my current partner and felt nothing for him. I just cant understand why Im having such frequent dreams about him.

I think recurring dreams are usually about unresolved issues/unfinished businnesss.I am sure you know and understand your feelings for this person but maybe something was left unsaid ?
I used dream constantly about being back at school taking exams untill I went back to school and took more exams !

How do I resolve it? I cant think of anything I have to say to him. Even if I did I couldn't it would be weird and I wouldn't even know where to find him.

I don't know really. There are books written on dreams and their meanings or google Dreams, etc., Could it possibly be that your ex. is representitive of something, like an unfullfilled dream (no pun intended !)or something/person niggling your subconscious.
How often do you have the dreams ?

strangeone · 10/11/2010 19:53

At least fortnightly. I cant think of what could be unresolved. I too have dreams about sitting exams and going back to school because I was lazy and could have tried harder but that's quite clear cut.

Do you reckon this dream occurs when you're feeling anxious or troubled in some way ?

dearprudence · 10/11/2010 21:45

I've heard that dreams are less about what happens (the detail) but more about how you felt in the dream.

If you felt in love and sexual, does this mean you're missing this feeling in your life? Or feeling the weight of responsibility in your life now and hankering after the feeling of being carefree and in love?

mmm maybe...actually maybe when Im feeling a bit dissatisfied with my relationship, not that he was at all a better alternative. I dont know if that is it. I was feeling ok last night when I had the last dream.
