Gift for spouse - premium bonds

What do you think if someone said they were going to get premium bonds for their spouse? Is this an impersonal gift and what do you think it says about the perceptions of the giver and the recipient?? Any thoughts gratefully appreciated thanks

I'd think it was a good idea but in our household all earnings/savings are completely shared so it would be better if DH said 'let's buy ourselves £X worth of premium bonds as a bit of fun and share any prizes'. Obviously works differently if you have completely separate savings accounts ......... sorry, haven't explained that very well !

No that is very helpful Ragwort. If you have separate savings and money do you think it is impersonal (the recipient is not short of cash but is very very money conscious). I realise this is asking for a view in a vacuum but any thoughts gratefully received
