What's an emotional affair

Sorry for the possible daft question but I read threads from lots of you saying your DH has had an emotional affair?

Just not sure what one is.

It's when someone has not physically cheated but is emotionally involved with someone - they may have very intense feelings, spend a lot of time together, divulge their feelings to one another, really love them, be thinking of leaving their partner but would not having sex.

For some people, an affair is an affair whether it's physical, for others it is different because no physical line has been crossed. For some it feels like more of a betrayal - they could come to terms with someone having a quick shag but giving their heart away is too much to bear.
