Is this totally inappropriate or am I uptight

My cousins MIL is staying with her and her DH...basically the DH had a back/shoulder ache the other night and asked my cousin to rub/massage it....she said no because shes 5 months pregnant and feels bit rough...and as she said to me, he never gives her one!

So the MIL says "Oh I'll do it" and proceeds to rub and massage her 35 year old sons back whilst he lies on his front on the hall flor...she's in her mid 60s and cousin said she thought it weird...I agree...but then I do tend to be uptight sometimes...is it weird?

They're not a touchy feely family my cousin says...so this just stuck out to her...and she said the sight of it actually made her feel a bit sick!

she wasn't giving him extras was she?

He had a sore back and she rubbed it for him. I don't see that as expecially odd unless there was chocolate flavoured oil or somesuch.

I don't know- but my dsis's MIL goes and has a chat with her ds while he is in the bath .

So long as she didn't give him a happy ending...

I KNOW she loves him and all that...I just get a bit weird when Mothers over-fuss their kids once they work for a living!

But that isn't over fussing unless she wouldn't give a DD a back rub.

My son is 17. I get a bit fecked off with the idea that I am being odd when I hug him but when I do it with my DD it is fine.
He will be a grown man and married one day and his first duty and love will be his wife and any children. And I expect him to be independent and reliable etc etc.

But I will still expect to be allowed to love him because he will always be my son. And if his back hurts I will think anyone assuming that I shouldn't rub it to be a bit weird.
( only if it really hurts though. If he is being a big jessie he can fuck off)

I think you are very uptight. A massage can be administered by a complete stranger, or by someone you just met at a dinner party, or... well, they are not intimate things unless nakedness and chocolate body paint are involved. A mother and son = fine.

The only bit that seems weird to me is that he was lying on the hall floor. Not sure why, but surely if he was so sore that he needed to lie flat on the floor it was quite mean of his wife to refuse to help him, pregnant or not.

I wouldn't say it's inappropriate at all - he's probably still her baby to her.

skidoodly no his wife always does his back but as I said...she's pregnant and feeling rough...and he's never given her one for ages! I don't blame her for refusing!

I'm glad it's not odd though...will pass on yur input..she's hormonal and I'm upptight...so not the best person to ask!
