I am just about to phone Relate to and try an d arrange some counselling for myself and DH.

Does anyone have any experience of waiting times, and generally some information?? Fees also.

As you can imagine I am feeling a little daunted.

Anyone with any experience of this?

I think waiting time depend on where you are, they give you a first interview quite quickly but them you have to wait quite a long time if you want to continue with councelling sessions.

DH and I went for the initial session, it was good and got some issues into the open, but we decided not to carry on with it due to the cost.

They ask you to pay what you can afford, but suggest that about £50 per session is expected unless you have money probs... We decided that we'd be better off just making more time for ourselves and spending the money on dinner out more often!

It worked!

Don't be daunted, go for the initial session definitely, the councellor was lovely and it really helped us to think about our probs from the others point of view.

I hope things are better for you both soon.

Thank you Passionflower. What sort of things do you discuss in the first session? Do you go straight in to all the big issues?

Hi

We went to the initial session at relate 6 wks ago and have just been offered a regular slot. We are asked to pay £35 a session but this can be discussed if there are financial probs.

The first session for us touched on all the issues that were causing problems briefly and also info about our background.
