How to find/make friends

I am 37 and am quite shy I am embarrassed to say I don't have any proper friends. How do other people find/make friends. My husband moans that we don't have a social circle and seems to expect me to resolve this. My husband sometimes works away and we have no family near us I get lonely and have no one to meet up with.

I agree that you need to boost your confidence and overcome your shyness to an extent. I have just found the cheesiest video EVER invented but it has some useful tips below.

I sympathise as I too am in a new area and can't get out in the evenings to new social situations. Can you do something connected with your children?

Of course you have to choose your groups with care but in due course I think you do make friends.
