Tuned to infidelity

I have been reading a number of threads in this forum and one of them stated something along the lines that people's characters or make up is tuned or at least more likely to indulge in infidelity.

What are those characteristics?

OP posts:

selfishness, arrogance - those are my top two

quaere · 07/08/2010 20:26

Insecurity - some men like having two women, cos then if one buggers off you have the other

ItsGraceActually · 07/08/2010 20:31

Narcissism - needs multiple sources of 'supply'.

ItsGraceActually · 07/08/2010 20:32

Oh, and sexism. He who sees women as objects doesn't mind using a few of them.

panicandanxiety · 07/08/2010 20:32

arrogant and self absorbed sums up my soon to be exDH at the moment

partytime · 07/08/2010 20:33

controlling

abedelia · 07/08/2010 21:40

SELFISH. I will be coaching my children in this red flag as soon as they are old enough. That and a sense of entitlement / superiority (does that come under arrogance??)

quaere · 07/08/2010 21:41

bad relatioship with mother.
Sense of entitlement

partytime · 07/08/2010 22:59

abedelia - yes it does ime

PrettyFeckinVacant · 08/08/2010 00:22

Maybe a lack of empathy - unable to see things from anyone elses point of view?

HelishAngel · 08/08/2010 01:58

My serial cheating exp had all the above...talk about making a poor choice! Bloody narcissists!

mathanxiety · 08/08/2010 06:52

A lot of anger somewhere inside (maybe related to the mother).

A fondness for Drama.

EekaSqueaka · 08/08/2010 09:37

Chameleons! A natural and extensive ability to be completely duplicitous. That in itself can make them hard to spot Confused

Emotional immaturity.

Fully immersed in 'blame culture' (justification)- inability to cope with responsibility or take responsibility seriously.

Selfishness.

Poor coping mechanisms and communication skills.

Misogynistic tendencies - not necessarily overt.

mathanxiety · 08/08/2010 20:22

A tendency to try to get away with things in other areas, like enjoying speeding or doing slap happy repair work at home.
