How can I meet someone?

DD is two and getting out is so difficult. I also don't want to pay for online dating.
I know people say that loves come when you least expect it but how if I never mix with men?
Tips needed ladies please! I guess I can do the pub once a fortnight. just.

Isn't plenty of fish site free?

I'm not sure,as am married (met him randomly on a girls only holiday abroad).

Once a fortnightly nights out are at least something, still chance to meet a few chaps!

Is there any way you could throw a party? I know you have a little one, but just wondering if there is any way?

That is how I met my dp, indirectly. I threw a party and the next day had about 12 bottles left over. Decided to take one to each of the neighbours who hadn't come, including the guy in the house opposite who I had never met. And he turned out to be the most amazing man I've ever met in my life. We spent the next three days in a giddy happy haze and it just keeps getting better and better.

My point being, the occasional party opens up opportunities in ways you might not have imagined.

I wouldn't use the dating sites. I know it's hard to get out there but i think it's the best way.

giving out free wine sounds like a good ploy
in fact skip the party, just go with the wine
might try it myself
don't know where the nearest single man is though
oh yes, my neighbour's nephew, about 60 and a big fan of blood sports
p'raps not

ninah · 28/07/2010 22:52

no, I'll stay in and drink it

Wordweaver · 28/07/2010 23:01

Oh dear Ninah, he doesn't sound exactly pick of the crop. I must say it's the only time in my life that a neighbour has been remotely eligible!

Staying in and drinking it sounds a much better idea. Perhaps mumsnet champagne gatherings once a month?

Wordweaver · 28/07/2010 23:04

Wasn't randomly crowbarring champagne in there. Should have said - it was a cava champagne party, hence having so much left over. Works a treat as everyone brings a couple of bottles, there's no mess of loads of different drinks, the bubbles make everyone happy and there are always a few leftover bottles at the end.
