How do you know when you've met The One?

I mean, the person you'll be with forever?

Because I think I have

But maybe I'm just a little overexcited

I recall a couple of friends, when they met their partners, just "knew", right from the moment they met. I always thought this level of certainty was fantasy, but they're still together now, both couples 10 years down the line, both very, very happy and just brilliant together.

Maybe it was self fulfilling prophecy?

Dunno. What do you think?

OK, 'weeps' sounds a bit like a sore - can I amend that to 'sniffs'?

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 19/07/2010 00:10

[Leaks fluid]?

Nah, that's just revolting

Sardonic Old Bitch Warning!

He had me at hello.

He took my hand in his, and I felt I'd come home.

Our eyes met across a crowded room, and I Knew.

He smiled and sunshine flooded my world.

We passed in the doorway and my stomach/heart flipped.

He rang with a customer complaint, and his voice melted me.

Our fingers touched; we both felt the shock.

The sight/sound/thought of him makes me wet.

When I regained consciousness, the first thing I saw was his face.

I always thought of him as That Guy Again, then he rescued me from an awful situation.

He rescued me.

I saw what he could be / he sees what I could be.

As soon as we met, he knew me so well he could finish my sentences.

He knows me better than I know myself.

I knew he needed me.

Bitter, I love that song- never heard it before, so thankyou. How sad that her husband died

Moist- I am absolutely thrilled for you. Especially now I know it's not Pie Boy

Oops, sorry, connection troubles...

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 19/07/2010 00:25

Bof, I know - makes it all the more poignant.

Saying that, I walked down the aisle to G'n'R so don't know how qualified I am to comment.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 19/07/2010 00:28

Thanks BoF. No, Pie Boy is dead in the water.
In fact, he phoned me today.
I said: "you've got to stop doing this..."
He said: "Oh!..."

Then he phoned me back 5 minutes later.
He: " You're amazing! I never told you how much I love you!" etc etc

So very very happy to be free of all that shit and with someone who actually cares about me.

I will always remember my best friend with stars in her eyes saying "This is it, he is the one, we're going to be together forever."
Three months down the line they split up mutually but acrimoniously (if you see what I mean).
I've now been with him for 19 years, she's been with her DH for 18. We're all pretty cool with it. I know he never felt about her like she did about him.
To be honest my DH and my friend are very, very similar people, very alpha, which is probably why it didn't work between them
