I haven't spoken to my dad since I was a teenager as we had a big fall out. Now my dd has started asking about him and says she wants to meet him. She is nearly 5. I never anticipated this and I don't know what to do.

I guess it depends on the sort of person he is. I havent spoken to my father since I was 18 (now 31) and my 9 year old asks about him occasionally but him meeting my kids is out of the question.

What do you tell them?

That he wasnt a good dad and didnt want to be a dad so I dont see him. He's happy with that.

I told her that we fell out a long time ago and I don't see him and he lives a long way but then she started getting excited about going on a boat to where he lives!

She's at it again. Today she asked dh if she could go to grandad's. He thought she meant his dad but she said "no, on the boat"
