I do hope not -though if she isn't she'll be almost as intolerable as if she is...

I remember being so addicted that I had to sit in the car on holiday in northern france to hear Mark propose to Shula (the second time).I really liked her then can't imagine why the story writers have made her into such a sactimonious cow now.

zisforzebra · 28/05/2010 22:54

Is Hellin going to stop with that dramatic pause when she tells everyone that she's pregnant?!

I think Kenton is going to have an affair and so is Brenda. She'll have her head turned by the bright lights of Leicester and shops that stay open past 4.30pm.

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 28/05/2010 23:02

Zis

It's odd that isn't as almost everywhere has a tesco local now, and even petrol stations sell bread, milk and pasties!

not that she should have to stock up btw

LadyBiscuit · 28/05/2010 23:03

Can you not do internet shopping in Ambridge? Why are Tom and Brenda constantly without food. And why the fuck did she make him meals for the freezer in her first week in her new job? She's going to have an affair and Tom will kick her out and get married to Kirsty instead

And Matt will murder Paul and be sent down for a very long time.

Lilymaid · 28/05/2010 23:08

Helen is going to have a phantom pregnancy. She's the only one who has seen the test result and the symptoms are (according to that website):
... one thing binds sufferers together: The extreme desire to bear a child.

Perhaps she will also exhibit some of the other aspects of "Bloody Mary", the most famous pregnancy fantasist, and burn people at the stake. Any suggestions who should go first? So many to choose from in Ambridge!

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 28/05/2010 23:11

Rooth

no defence milord

PrincessFiorimonde · 29/05/2010 00:09

If your Dad's a milkman, why not get him to leave a pint on your doorstep every day? Plus bread, butter, juice, etc. - whatever it costs, got to be better than nipping to the family farm/shop for these items? As that's apparently so difficult to do ...

Lilymaid - perhaps Brenda will die with 'Leicester' inscribed upon her heart instead of 'Calais'? That would teach her a lesson - why go out to work rather than staying home making veal and ham pies instead?

LadyBiscuit - quite right.

catinthehat2 · 29/05/2010 09:11

Please don't let anything happen to MAtt.

I like him.

EdgarAllenPoll · 30/05/2010 12:48

looking forward to another week - after Aunty Liz's abortive go at making David be me more accomodating to the abominable Peep...
the rather flat return of Tiger to Lilian..

yech<
one week highlight was edies uppance on his little auction earner..

i think its time for Brian to start shagging about, for the good of my sanity if no one elses...better still, isn't Jenny due an affair?

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 30/05/2010 22:25

Edgar

Excellent idea,

How about Jenny and Paul?

She really liked him and he sort of sounds attractive, at least in my imagination.

zisforzebra · 31/05/2010 17:45

I missed Eddie's comeuppance. What happened?

I think that when Viiickiiii finds out that Tom is doing his own veal and ham pies after seeing her figures she'll put him through the mincer. Brenda will then be free to take herself off to the excitement of Leicester.

If Helen were to start burning people at the stake she should definitely start with Pip. She'd being doing her a favour really.

MrsDickens · 01/06/2010 12:33

I do have to say that in my centuries years of listening to The Archers (- I have done other things, had a job and a life, honest), I can't recall quite so many utterly infuriating and plain ludicrous storylines all at once.

  1. Peeep and Juuuuude (he is 30 btw - although he sounds about 12. And Peep sounds about 6). By extension, Auntie Lizzie's decision to become Peeeep's defender and start haranguing David & Ruth about their lapses of parenthood
  1. OCD-riddled Hellin and her crazed quest to bear a child so she will 'always have someone to love her'
  1. Tom'n'Brendurr and their utter inability to provide food for themselves, when they live on a farm, in a rural village, surely within a mouse-click of internet shopping, not to mention 24-hour supermarkets in the big city (Felpersham)
  1. Jazzer and his relentless whingeing about Harry the Fit Milkman - give it a rest, FFS!
  1. Awful Matt, the Reggie Kray of Ambridge, who comes out of clink and is straight back to being his usual charmless, snarling self
  1. Vickoi. The mere fact of her existence plunges me into despair. 'Nuff said.

It's just all wrong at the moment, it seems to me....

bea · 01/06/2010 12:56

hear hear MrsDickens!!!.. i'm finding it all too much at the moment!!! pip and jude... awul awful helen... as if having a baby will solve all her probs and self esteem issues.... arghhhh!!!!

EdgarAllenPoll · 01/06/2010 13:18

Jenny....i think paul would be great with her...rejected by Lillian etc..finally aman who treated her right, and she could dump the abominable BRIAN..

fantastic.

Eddie was forwarned by Tony, who told him that the auctioneer had noticed all their late entries....and thanked him for the heads up.

LadyBiscuit · 01/06/2010 13:25

Elizabeth never misses an opportunity to have a go at David. She's never forgiven him for having the farm (despite the fact that she lives in a stately home). She's an odious woman.

I think Brenda will get pregnant, decide she can't have a baby now and want to have an abortion but then Hellin will persuade her to let her adopt the baby

I can't bear Vikki and it's completely out of character for sensible Mike to have fallen in love with her

elkiedee · 01/06/2010 13:33

Listening for years? Kind of! Was anyone else brought up on it? My mum was brought up on it and now I have kids I've acquired it. Though my baby sister also has the habit at under 30 with no kids.

zisforzebra · 01/06/2010 22:42

It's only a habit I've developed since being made redundant last september. It's clearly some kind of traumatic reaction thing

Jazzer is annoying me most with his constant whinging. Fallon doesn't want him, he should just get over it.

Didn't hear tonight's but was slightly disappointed yesterday by Brenda's revelation that her new flat-mate-to-be was gay. I was hoping he'd be a totally hot and fit rugby player to make Tom insane with jealousy since he clearly doesn't trust her with a straight man!

R4 · 01/06/2010 22:51

So ...
Brenda hated Vikquiii but can now tolerate her
Brenda might have been pregnant but there again maybe not
Brenda was going to have a fling but her flatmate is gay.

Are the scriptwriters playing with us? - throwing us little misdirections so we will miss the major plotline that is brewing (please tell me there will be a proper plotline soon)

jodevizes · 02/06/2010 19:15

If there was a people carrier out of control, about to go over Beachey Head, who would you put in it?

Vikki, Helen, PipnJude, Ruth, David at the moment, Susan driving.

Any truth in the rumor in that on the wall of the Head of Radio 4 is a picture of a nuclear bomb with an arrow at the base and Ambridge written on it?

rodformyownback · 02/06/2010 19:56

For Hassled:

Pip is 16/17. Jude is 29. Her parents are abhorrently dull and smug but surely within reason to loath this ageing old perv?

Jude crashed Pip's quad bike and almost killed her the other week - David saw the accident and banned Jude from the farm. Pip started spending all her time at Jude's but had to come home to get some revision done.

Re the possibility of Pip getting preggers -. last year her best mate Izzy had a pregnancy scare and said she thought she might keep it. Pip was furious that she would consider throwing her life away and also lectured Izzy about how the growing population is depleting the world's resources!
Although darling Pipsqueak has changed somewhat this year, I just can't see her having a baby young.

zisforzebra · 02/06/2010 21:44

So glad the village shop is back in business. Maybe now Tom and Brenda will manage to get some milk in . . .

DuffyMoon · 02/06/2010 21:51

Am also glad to see that you apparently cant move for abandoned edwardian buildings just ripe for conversion

Shaz10 · 02/06/2010 21:53

But zisforzebra Brenda's going to stay in the bright lights of Leicester all week. How will Tom get fed?

DuffyMoon · 02/06/2010 21:54

Oh oh and apparently there is going to be a huuuuuge storyline over Xmas that will have massive repercussions and involve a death...... Dun dun duuuuuuuur
