I do hope not -though if she isn't she'll be almost as intolerable as if she is...

Pip is pregnant????

HelenMumsnet · 26/05/2010 21:52

Scream!

Oh, it's an ARCHERS thread

Phew

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/05/2010 22:03

Hurray for this thread! I didn't know there were so many other Archers addicts out there who hated Pip and Helen.

Hassled - Jude is bad news I think (he seemed quite nasty after 'Fizz' had taken her first exam and he went awol for the weekend), although obvioulsy the whingeing Pip cannot see it at the moment. It will all end in tears!

I have been wondering how Helen's pregancy will end up - I too vote for miscarriage then mental trauma drama and return of eating disorder.

Is Kenton going to have an affair with that girl (whose name now escapes me, but is going to be working in his new bar and now works in the shop)?

Oh God, reading this back I realise how tragic I am!

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 26/05/2010 22:07

Laurie

I share your pain.

catinthehat2 · 26/05/2010 22:39

What about the entirely convincing new bloke who's moved into the Bull with Falleeeerrrrrn?

I just get the feeling they are positioning characters for 5 years down the line when the current actors retire..

So Falleeerrrrn will end up running the pub with ugly Jazzer or lovely Henry in 2015.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/05/2010 22:43

oh yes, Kenton and Kirsty....

Jazzer will move onto Pip, impregnate her and marry into Brookfield!

CrankyTwanky · 26/05/2010 22:52

Lol at pregzilla!

She will grow into a Linda snell, won't she?

squeaver · 27/05/2010 07:52

Sorry, but I have to say this every time his name is mentioned: NO ONE in Scotland speaks like Jazzer.

R4 · 27/05/2010 09:37

Are we sure that Helen is pregnant? I have this horrible feeling that she mis-read the test and it will all be phantom.

I really don't understand the Pip exam storyline. I have exam dates/times pinned up in the kitchen, written in the diary and tattoo'd on my forehead - didn't Dave & Ruth do similar? Also, what sort of nightclub has an opening night on a Monday? And if you had a text from your DD the night before an exam saying that the car had broken down again wouldn't you insist on fetching them back yourself, and at a reasonable hour. D&R seem to lurch from over-protectiveness to totally hands-off.
Please let Pip fail the lot, get thrown out of college and go back to the farm. Where she belongs, as we all know.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/05/2010 11:06

maybe she is seriously deluded and wants so much the be pregnant that she believes she is

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 27/05/2010 11:06

at any rate, it'll all end in tears, mark my words...

OP posts:
MrsDickens · 27/05/2010 15:14

Please let it be so, MaryAnn. I don't think I can take much more of Hellin's overweening smuggery. Has there ever been a less believable storyline?

And as for Peeeeep & Juuuuueeeeede....words fail me.....

In fact, why do I listen at all?

bourboncreme · 27/05/2010 15:33

I am totally fed up with whingeing Brenda, she decided not to go to university when she left school and worked for a bit oh and had an affair with the horrid James ,then decides to go to university ,takes a year off when her mum dies(ok that can be forgiven) but then transfers to another university,or was that before Betty died. Then she whinges because she falls out with Tom,couldn't understand most of that ,she finally gets him back and gets a ring out of it now she decides she wants a career. She chose the job in Leicester ,fully accept Tom should cater for himself but why should he wait on her,at that age I had demanding job and so did dh,i often travelled further but I didn't expect him to run around after me cooking me meals,Tom has been at work as well and after all her job is only for a year he's already lost one business,he won't want to lose another hes got to support her once her year is up

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/05/2010 16:05

they're all moaning Minnies ! - love the spelling of Hellin btw- that's just how they say it !

OP posts:
laurielee · 27/05/2010 20:02

bourbon - wow that was quite a rant against Brenda, but you are right, she is a total pain in the arse. I think most of them are really, but I still battle on, listening every night and even to the omnibus sometimes if I miss a few episodes!

I cannot think about Hellin (hee hee MrsDickens, quite right. This is how my mum also says Helen!) without getting in a internal rage.

PrincessFiorimonde · 27/05/2010 21:24

My first thought was that Hellin (I like that too!) might have a child with a disability, as I don't recall any disabled people in Ambridge ever. (Have I forgotten anyone?) But maybe the combination of neurotic mother/child born with a disability might be hard for scriptwriters to handle delicately.

But now that she's got pregnant (seemingly - as MaryAnn says) suspiciously easily, agree that losing the pregnancy seems likeliest.

Bound to be Trouble In Store whatever happens ...

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 27/05/2010 22:21

Lizzie was born with heart trouble, if that counts, as I remember concern about her pg with the twins.

I hate them all, with the possible exception of Lilian, Fallon and St Jill, but currently find myself yelling at Ruth and David's total ineptitude as parents!

I wish I could just give it up

asmallbunchofflowers · 27/05/2010 22:38

And while we're whipping up a frenzy of unsisterly loathing against (nearly) all the female characters, what about Kate, eh? Isn't it fortunate that the only university on the planet that does the course she wants is at Felpersham?

PrincessFiorimonde · 27/05/2010 22:48

Yep, remember the worry over Lizzie being pregnant. So I imagine there was a lot of worry about her when she was born - but even my listening career doesn't go back that far... But not quite the same thing? Also remember Kathy being screened for/concerned about Downs when pregnant with Jamie (I think because of her age), but of course all was well in the end.

I hate quite a few of them too, but couldn't give it up. at the idea!

Kate, yep - look forward to all those arguments with Hayley over Pheebs, come the autumn.

I like Clarrie, Joe and Eddie. And, errm, errm ....

Come to think of it, why do I listen?

bourboncreme · 27/05/2010 22:53

Yes it was a bit of a rant wasn't it!just makes me mad you don't hear Usha haranging Alan do you.Shocked that PIp has gone from young farmers to sleeping with a 28 year old!

catinthehat2 · 27/05/2010 22:53

Brenda had dodgy hips as a baby and had to be rejiggled (? technical term)

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/05/2010 22:54

I quite like fallon
I loathe Shula

OP posts:
catinthehat2 · 27/05/2010 22:58

It's Falleeerrrrrnn actually.

I like her too.

Shula and Usha gruesome twosome.
