Archers: AIBU to hope that Pip abandons farming and sweeps off to a life of sophistication in, I dunno, NYC?

Was initially bored by storyline involving her makeover, but I am starting to rather enjoy David and Ruth's evident discomfort with the fact that she's gone a bit style-queen and started swanning around with a world cinema fan who has his own BMW

You can see their fears for her now:

  • total loss of interest in farming
  • drugs
  • bumsex
  • emotional devastation

It would be quite fun if they were proven wrong for once instead of always being bloody right in their down-to-earth deeply boring way.

(disclaimer: yes, I might well be horrified if it was my own DD)

I've just missed tonight's episode.

She is turning into being super naughty, but I am getting hacked off with the storyline. Presumably she might change when Phil dies .

DorotheaPlenticlew · 01/02/2010 19:35

I love the naughtiness for the moment anyway ... though agree it could start to get tiresome. Don't you think Phil's death could send her further off the rails, though? I reckon it could go either way. I'm not sure exactly how old Pip is; that may be crucial I guess.

Still can't help enjoying the fact that David and Ruth's certainties about what is OK for a teenage girl are being challenged.

Pip is 16, first year of A levels (like my DS2!)

fishie · 01/02/2010 19:40

i could do with more description of her new hairstyle. 16 is a bit late for rebellion, hopefully this is proper new pip.

and is phil ever going to die? talk about drag it out, even the grundy van has gone first.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 01/02/2010 19:44

I know fishie, I keep waiting for the bombshell to drop. 'Tis grim. My mum is dreading it, I wish they'd just get on with it.

'A'-levels must have dumbed down if a dullard like Pip is getting top grades.

Wasn't there a load of drama when she was too thick to get into the Cathedral School in Felpersham

DorotheaPlenticlew · 04/02/2010 19:16

Revelling in David's fury tonight

Ruth mentioned the age gap between David and herself tonight ("quite a gap"). Anyone know what it actually is?

Does any father really react like that?

I was wondering if he would die in an apoplectic fit in the cow barn.

OrmRenewed · 08/02/2010 14:41

8 yrs apparently dorothea.

squeaver · 08/02/2010 14:46

That was hilarious. They were only snogging, ffs.

Unless I missed some subtle hint that she was actually giving him a hand job. All those years in the milking shed wouldn't have gone to waste, then.

Would also like to know what the hairstyle is like. Knowing the Archers it's probably a Purdey cut.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 08/02/2010 14:53

I recall mention of a fringe. No further details were given ...

Squeaver - you're comment about the hand job is the funniest thing I've read in days.

NigellaTufnel · 10/02/2010 22:37

Pip is winning the competition to be the most annoying, patronising teen ever. She makes me want to boil the radio.

Tommy · 10/02/2010 22:40

glad it's not just me that thinks David is being slightly OTT about all this

GrimmaTheNome · 10/02/2010 22:54

Pip's very nearly 17 (as she's been saying repeatedly). But if she doesn't know that 28 isn't 'early 20s' then I fear for her A level grades.

Missed it tonight.

Talking of the Grundy van... something's going to go horribly wrong with the signwriting and ferret on it, isn't it? Cue Clarrie "Oh Eddie how could you..."

DorotheaPlenticlew · 11/02/2010 10:01

Yeah, her age is drummed into my head now although when I first posted, we hadn't got to that stage yet of it being insistently repeated (and A-levels etc are no clue to me about ages as I didn't grow up in UK).

I'm sure she was just plain lying about the early 20s thing ... Wonder if they have shagged?

Told you something would be wrong with the van. The bit of light relief as we were all waiting for the end...
